William Shatner @ 90

My parents actually don't believe they are younger than Shatner.
Shatner is incredible still making appearances (well before Covid) and appearing in documentaries, TV series.

I don't think there is anything anyone can do against things like cancer for example. You just cross your fingers and hope you'll be among the lucky ones who'll never get it.

I have to say that Shatner seems to be of sound mind.

He must be glad that life doesn't imitate art. He is fortunate not to resemble the senile Kirk in "The Deadly Years".

Of course, I am going by Shatner's appearance in a recent episode of Ancient Aliens. In it, he hosted a roundtable (actually, it was a rectangular table with Shatner, naturally, at the head of the table) discussion with an assortment of ancient alien, ufo government coverup conspiracy theorists.

Shatner was the skeptic in the episode. And I don't think he was merely acting as the skeptic. From what I saw and from reading past interviews that he had given, I believe Shatner's skepticism and the questions that he posed to the group reflected his genuine p.o.v. Amazingly, Shatner came across as the reasonable one, although he did sound a tad less skeptical at the end. All that ancient alien mumbo jumbo might have gotten the better of the old man.

But the irony of the episode was that there was actually an ancient alien sitting there at that table. The evidence was right under their noses. Shatner's presence was proof that ancient aliens do exist. :wtf::p

Kidding aside, Shatner may not be the little green men variety of alien. But he is the kind of alien with the little green card issued by the US immigration agency. Shatner has lived in the US for so many years. It is curious why he has never gotten US citizenship.

May he live 20 more years :)
I guess he lived in the proper environment.
My grandmother had 2 sisters and each of them reached 90.... the last one died at 95.
Had a friend who used to live opposite to an elder like this .... he was also over 90.
He used to say to my friend that people should live up to 80, because after that it's not called life anymore. At least for some :)
They say red wine is the main ingredient for longevity. In France women have 1 glass after lunch and for men they recommend like 2 glasses.
Christopher Plummer lived 91 long years... he passed away this year.... you can only respect all these actors...

Whilst I am indifferent on Kirk being killed off in Generations (although perhaps not the way it was handled), it's a shame, retrospectively, that it happened, given Shatner's vitality and longevity in his advanced years.

True, the TOS film years had come to an end, and equally true, even now, there could be an explanation for Shatner's Kirk appearing now, given the limitless abilities of Sci fi.

However, Shatner himself said he would only appear purposefully, with a good script, and not a cameo. Killing him off, really negates any chance of this, or a Picard-esque show or mini series etc.

So whilst I think it would be great to see Shatner don the uniform again - despite being killed off - the act of killing him off drew limitations for him to return. And given his age now, I doubt Shatner will ever return to the role.

Despite all this, he is incredible for his age!

Agreed ..if I may be so bold, it was a mistake for him to accept Generations. playing James T Kirk is his first best destiny..anything else is a waste of material.
