William Regal suspended for 60 days
Written: May 20, 2008

STAMFORD, Conn., May 20, 2008 - In accordance with its Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy, WWE has suspended Darren Matthews (William Regal) for 60 days for his second violation of the company’s policy.

:wtf::cardie::rolleyes:

Who will blow the biggest push of his career next ? Make your bets!

Good timing--the guy gets the biggest push of his career and promptly gets suspended. Boneheaded indeed.

It'll be curious to see if WWE enforces the three strikes policy for anyone who manages to get all three (in addition to Regal, Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton are also on that list if I'm not mistaken). I have a feeling they'll be very selective about it, as Orton will be immune regardless of how many times he gets busted while they'll make an example of a lesser personality who's not a main eventer.

And how a very obvious roid-rager like Batista manages to get by is beyond me.

I've been reading up on this.

It's not clear whether or not Randy Orton is on one or two strikes. His "first" strike was for marajuana possession prior to the new policy which was a behavioural rather than talent wellness offence.

Matt Hardy was allegedly suspended for a month in 2006 but he claimed he had a staph infection and showed photographs on his MySpace to back this up. His brother Jeff is indeed on two strikes and will be released if he gets another.

Smackdown's Festus has a strike against him from his developmental days in 2006.

10 performers were suspended in August as part of the Signature Pharmacy scandal. I believe Umaga, Ken Kennedy and John Morrison were on that list.

For the sake of the performers, some big WWE stars have to be exiled from the WWE and hopefully not picked up by TNA. If they see real consequences to these performance enhancers, hopefully they will stop taking them

A bit more on this - it appears we have another member of the one strike left club. Chavo Guerrero is on his second strike, one more and he's gone, just like Regal and Jeff Hardy.

So this is real and not kayfabe? WWE has long been on a downward spiral. Only the PPV matches are anything to watch, really. Everything else just builds up towards them. William Regal was getting a push? Hasn't the guy already kind of earned his retirement?

Has anyone actually gotten a third strike yet? The WWE has been rather lax with it in the past, lots of "2 and a half, 2 and three quarters" stuff, like a parent counting down to their children.

If they have brought the hammer down with this policy before, how many of those fired stars actually stayed gone? I definitely remember the WWE hiring back its own castaways on at least a few occasions.

I think any of the WWE, TNA, or WWF superstars should set an example for the youg kids that watch them. They show not do drugs or any of that these kids look up to them and that is a bad example.:techman:

I think any of the WWE [...] or WWF superstars

Huh? WWE is WWF. They just had to rename a few years ago because the pandalovers sued or threatened to sue, if they continue to use the WWF name.

I do believed they sued and won. Funny thing is I beat they get less attention and fewer converts now that wrestling fan doesn't accidentally see their message anymore.

To be fair, they aren't the best role models to begin with and it's not like kids' other media role models aren't getting sent to rehab every five minutes.

In this case, Regal has a well documented history of addiction problems so hopefully this will be the kick up the backside he needs.

How can a load of steroid freaks, who struggle to string two sentences together, act as "role models"?

I wouldn't like any child of mine watch such mind-rotting trash.

Why does every wrestling related thread need a post like this ? You don't like it, fine, go away!

Do you allow your kids to watch Baseball ? At least with wrestling, watching people cheat and get away with it is part of the fun.

The WWE has seen enough of deaths thanks to drug abuse.Eddie Guerrero,Road Warrior animal,The British Bulldog (Davey Boy Smith) and most recently Chris Benoit all passed away due to drugs and steroids and that too at an age no one could ever imagine. It's high time that people and wrestlers involved in the industry start taking the game in the right spirit and start valuing their lives.

Bret "Hitman" Hart doesn't do it,neither does Shawn Michaels nor the Undertaker. And too think of it..all of them has survived so long and are the real ambassadors of Global Wrestling.

^Bingo. In a way, it's Vince's fault because he's always looking for the next eight foot tall monster to add to his roster. I don't believe that he encourages it, but his recent statement that WWE is "as clean as a whistle" may not hold up to too much scruitiny.

It won't hold up at all... but realistically, we all know it won't... And it's not his responsibility to do so.

^It is, because they're his employees.
Employers are responsible for providing a safe work environment, not to be an employees 24/7 nanny.

WWE wrestlers know the risk of injecting themselves with HGH, 'roids and the other things they do... and yet they choose to do so in the hopes of becoming a superstar...
