Neuromancer (2011) (pre-production) (producer)

too bad it is a first time feature director and the producer does not have any major producer credits behind her we've heard of.

Hopefully it's better than his script to Johnny Mnemomic, a film I've started twice but never been able to finish, assuming he is scripting it.

I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for this one. I loved the novel, but I have trouble seeing it adapted to the big screen. And it's also pretty dated, at this point.

Wow, a first time director and young producer tackling that? Let's hope the creativity and management fairies sprinkled an extra dose on them in the cradle.

Re: Vincenzo Natali writing & directing

Vincenzo Natali, whose film-festival favorite Splice is getting a wide release on June 4, has signed up to write and direct the movie version of William Gibson's Neuromancer.
announced Thursday by indie producer Fire Development Inc. and pay TV operator Astral Media's the Harold Greenberg Fund.

I'm biased as I'm a fan of Natali's work but I think he'll do a good job at directing Neuromancer. Cypher had cyber punk vibe to it and that was excellent.

The question is who is David Hewlett going to be.

announcement today - Natali 'officially' directing

Even though it was a month ago it was news that Natali signed on.
Seven Arts Pictures (the "Company") announced today that Vincenzo Natali (Splice, Cube) has been tapped to direct the upcoming motion picture adaptation of William Gibson's seminal science fiction novel Neuromancer.
Prodigy Pictures' Jay Firestone is set to produce.
Neuromancer is to be produced and financed in Canada by Prodigy Pictures in conjunction with Telefilm Canada. The film is expected to commence pre-production early next year in Toronto and has the full support of Telefilm Canada.

I have an admission...I like certain parts of Mnemonic, which i admit is a bad movie...but Neuromancer is following in its pattern in basically using amateurs in production...not a good sign.
