Will you assimilate your children into trekkers?

My husband and I are both fans since our preteens or early teens (my first exposure to Trek was TOS reruns in the mid-80s, his was TNG). We started watching TNG with our son two years ago when he was 12. We've seen TNG, TOS, and DS9 to date and are currently watching VGR. We started with TNG because we felt that it was a more modern show with more modern pacing. We were afraid that a first exposure to TOS would turn him off the franchise altogether. Seems we guessed right, because after we watched Turnabout Intruder, he said something like "Yay, now I never have to watch TOS again!" (Granted, TOS ended on a stinker.) He enjoyed TNG and DS9 and seems to like VGR as well.

My husband and I haven't seen the shows made after ENT, either, and we currently don't have any way to watch them, either (not in the US).

Already happened.

Jr. recently announced he would be spending some time doing a complete watch through.

I assumed DS9 (we're both Niners) but no, he's starting from the beginning with TOS. Even refused my offer to flag the classic episodes so he could avoid the worst of the episodes, but no. He wants to do the tat too...

I intend to sit them down with a couple of light hearted adventures like Star Trek IV or "If Wishes Were Horses" or some other fun episode and gauge their reactions.
And if that doesn't work then it's time to bring out the clockwork orange chair, strap them down, clamp open their eyes, and make them fall in love with my bestfriend Star Trek.

Both of my boys have also seen the first 6 Star Trek movies and the 3 Kelvinverse films. I haven't shown them the TNG films yet, because I think they play better if you've seen a fair amount of the series first.

My youngest son loves TNG and TOS. He even wrote a paper this year for school about "Star Trek- The Best Old Franchise You're Missing" LOL

My oldest son likes Trek, but he's more of a YouTube guy and he's constantly playing sports, so he doesn't watch much television of any kind.

I will now transcribe, exactly as it is written (mistakes and all to preserve the cute factor), this masterpiece by my 9 year old son:

Do you like space mysteries? I have the one for you. Star Trek, the best old show!

The characters are Kirk Spock, Bone Picard and so many more. Kirk is the captain of the USS Enterprise. Spock is half human half Vulcan. The technology is fantastic in Star Trek. The Klingons have a cloaking device it makes the star ship invisible, so be careful. The Federation has fasts and teleport travel.

Wait, it's about discovering strange new worlds and lifeforms. The Ferengi are from The Next Generation and don't like the Federation, and we don't know a lot a buat them. Remember Star Trek is the best old franchise. With fabulous characters and creative technology, so go on Paramount + NOW!

My daughter got assimilated in Las Vegas when she was 11...

Your son is awesome, and gets an A+ from me!

Even though I don't have kids, it doesn't really fit my lifestyle, my brother has an almost 10-year-old daughter. He's shown her some TOS, then he started showing her VOY. They've finished that, and are now on TNG. My brother won't let her watch DS9 until she's actually turned 10. So they'll probably move onto DS9 after they're finished with TNG. My brother's a Niner, so it's his favorite one.

Of the new series, he's shown her Prodigy and just started showing her SNW. He said he'll show her Disco when she's 11 or 12. No idea about Picard. Blame the steady stream of f***ing F-bombs. :p

My wife and I plan to expose our children to a wide variety of belief systems. They'll be shown both Star Trek and Star Wars and then be allowed to chose which religion they want to practice.
