Will WoW affect James Bond?

It MAY affect opening weekend slightly. Like, very slightly.

But it doesn't really matter. If people miss it then they'll see it the following week. It's not like they have to pick one. They'll see the film if they want to. Just maybe not the first day.

Now, if EVERYONE waited until week 2, that'd be bad, but I think we're talking about 1/4 million people that this situation describes (would have seen James Bond but will wait because of WoW), not all 11 million users. And they're just delaying a ticket purchase, not avoiding it altogether.

I don't think 11 million users translates to 11 million users immediately buying WotLK and playing it nonstop for days on end, thus missing Bond. I started playing a few months ago, but I'm in no rush to pick up the expansion until my guy gets to 70. I'll take going to a movie with my friends over some stupid death knight. ;)

And 11 million players deciding to stay home to play a game instead of see a movie would bother me as a studio exec.

If you were as studio exec (which you aren't), you'd realise that a fair few PC gamers don't pay for anything they can get from BitTorrent, and would therefore not be attending the film's opening weekend anyway - WoTLK or no WoTLK. Why bother when you can download someone's handycam footage?

LOL and this is better to the Studio Exec how? And yea, you're not a studio exec either so it sort of invalidates your entire rebuttal.:guffaw:

I reckon I was being deliberately obtuse :)

American is NOT the centre of the world.

Obama is President of the free world now. :p

Seriously though, no way WOTLK will make a serious dip in the audience. If anything hurts Bond, it's the reviews that it's too much like a Jason Bourne movie which will throw some people off it. Personally I like both Bond and Bourne movies so it won't distract me and I play WoW but I'm not going to be buying WOTLK tomorrow nor seeing Bond on Friday.

Another more likely event to keep people out of the theater is money issues. More people would probably not go because they don't want/can't spend money going to the theater than there are playing Warcraft.

I'll probably buy WOTLK and see Bond eventually but it's not like you have only two days to do either and most other people realize that too.
