Will "V" be returning?

I haven't heard anything about a new season of V, so I was wondering if you guys did? I don't know where you guys get your news from, but you seem to have it so it seemed like a good place to ask.

It'll be back in November on Tuesdays at 9pm EST, though I haven't seen a specific premiere date.

November it is, orginally they said January 2011 but something caused them to push it back up to the slot where S1 debuted.

Someone at the board will post a definitive date once its announced. We have a few members who stalk the news outlets. Yes, I'm one of those but my sponsor says admitting the problem is a good first step. ;)

Thanks guys. I didn't think it was that dumb of a show. Pretty average for TV these days, but I enjoyed it.

This thread is proof-positive that there's a risk in scheduling a show outside of the standard September-April format on US TV. This isn't the first time I've heard people wondering if such-and-such a show had been cancelled or not. I recall hearing the same about 24 (especially when it took a year off) and I thought Crossing Jordan had been cancelled, too, but it ended up simply taking a hiatus. Some shows, though, have been damaged in the ratings by this sort of thing, like Alias (IMO).

Fortunately, V attracts much the same audience as The X-Files, which usually began its seasons in November so people are used to it.

And FYI Human Target is also returning, but it's also been pushed back to later in the season.

Well, I shall continue to watch it until it is gone. It does not blow my socks off but there is so little out there to watch. I feel that I must support it for not being well...most everything else in the standard lineup.

Sounds like they're officially trying to kill off the series without being obvious about it.

Yeah, sigh. I'm hoping it will do okay because as iffy as it might be, the new fall season is an atrocity and V is looking better all the time. Maybe by Jan, the whole ABC freshman class will be cancelled and then V will look good to the suits regardless of the ratings.

Well, at least I'll have a couple more months to get caught up on the last few episodes of Season 1. They've been languishing on my DVR since last spring because I just haven't had the willpower to actually dive back into the show. It was so painfully bland that it's literally an effort to sit down and watch it.

It's not just V.
Decision to push "V" into January comes following the change in command at ABC. Last May, former ABC Entertainment Group prexy Steve McPherson told reporters that he was anxious to bow a second round of programs as soon as November -- but that always seemed a tad ambitious.

November has always been a tough month to launch new and returning scripted fare -- viewers are just settling into their habits following the late September noise. November is also busy and disruptive because of sweeps (although much less so than it used to be). And launching a show in November is also tough given distractions and preemptions during the holidays in December.

^Now that you mention that, what is going on with the scheduling? When I was growing up I remember shows starting in September, ending in May/June, and re-runs during the summer. Now it seems like we got a couple months here and there, then a completely new schedule? What sparked the change? Or am I just seeing things?

And thanks for the info guys. I for one hope V survives. It's not the greatest, but with the way sci-fi shows are going these days.....
