Will they go back to primeTrek after nuTrek finishes?.

I imagine the sets to accompany the cast would also cost a great deal of money. IIRC, DS9 made history with the Promenade being the largest single set in the history of television at the time.
TV pilots generally have large budgets, but if you spend that money on permanent sets, it's a saving in the long run. Think how much use DS9 got out of that promenade over the years.

One step at a time, though. In order for you to get years out of a set, your pilot has to succeed in the first place. Which it did in DS9's case, but an expensive pilot being the dealbreaker for a show's contract isn't unheard of in TV land.

But in the case of Deep Space Nine (and Voyager and Enterprise), they built the sets after the series had been ordered by Paramount.

If I had any stake in the business and cared about their profits then I'd agree. But I'm just a viewer. They can only stoop so low until eventually becomes a show I don't care about being cancelled or not.

Costume titillation was a mainstay of TOS female guest stars throughout its three seasons, plus Ilia in TMP. The brief Gaila and Carol scenes were... very brief, and both played for comic value.

And not just the female stars. The first season of TOS, in particular, missed no opportunity to show Shatner sweaty and shirtless. Check out the opening act of "The Corbomite Maneuver," where Shatner is gratuitously topless for the first few scenes.

I have a notion that there must have been a contract clause stipulating a per-season minimum number of bare-chest scenes and torn-tunic scenes for Shatner.

The "Making of..." books discuss talk of Shatner's "equator" by the production as it became more of an issue. So I suspect the scenes became fewer over time as he expanded.

And, yes, I still hope they revisit primeTrek.

Would it kill me if they revisited the Prime timeline? Probably not. I still read various novels set there. But any visit needs to be just that, a visit. I'm not interested in returning there on a permanent basis, it would kill my interest in Trek.

I suspect that your suspicion is correct.

Yeah. .. Prime Universe has its run. It was a hell of a ride. A revisit is nice. .... but going back full force to the PU would likely require newbs to play a lot of catch up.

Boldly go with the New Universe. All the connectivity that was needed was handled with Spock Prime. The torch had been passed. Time to move on.

Not really most newbies have probably explored the other series. When I was young I explored older shows and movies that were made decades before I was born. I think most ST fans would play catch up if a new series in the prime universe was made.

I suppose it would depend on how far into the PU one starts a new story.
If a PU story starts in TOS era, then there might not be so much catching up...but if it were to start in TNG era.....hmmmm.

Still....the PU had its day in my humble opinion. Time for the new guard to hold the flame high.

A better way to look at it is that it would give newbies 700+ hours to look forward to.

Glass half full and all that.

Unfortunately the new guard seems to be treading old ground. I mean come on "Khaaaaaaaaaaan" again. Sheeesh.

Oh. I see what you did there.

I will admit, at first, I was mildly off-put by that, ......but then, with a second viewing, I realized life is too short to worry about such insignificant hang ups. STID still rocked, and did quite well.

Having just watched it, that whole scene with Kirk and Spock through the glass was just perfect and a good way to end Kirk's character arc -- until Spock made that scream. But that scream was such a tiny part of the movie that it shouldn't override the rest of it.
