Will Lucas do final Star Wars movies because of Trek popularity?

The thing about the 'originally he promised us 9 movies!' rage is that he ended up compressing the stories from the final trilogy into ROTJ. The initial idea was that after defeating Vader, Luke etc. would move on to take on The Emperor in Eps VII - IX. Luke's twin sister would turn up but she wouldn't be Leia etc. But ROTJ put the kibbosh on all of that. So there really isn't any point going 'But he said there'd be 9!' anymore. He changed his mind. End of.

The other thing is that much as I like the PT, it's very clear that GL recycled ideas that he had for the original trilogy. He originally wanted to have Wookiies flying the ships that destroyed the Death Star, as he was fascinated by the idea that a primitive society could defeat a more technologically advanced one, after Vietnam. This idea was turned into the Ewoks defeating the Empire on Endor in ROTS, then to the Wookiies taking on the Separatists in Kashyyk in ROTS. Character names like Mace Windu appeared in his original draft for ANH, then re-emerged in the PT. So I suspect that he simply wouldn't have the ideas to fill a third trilogy.

I like the SW saga as it is and have found the post-ROTJ novels to be universally bad (though I've been pleasantly surprised to enjoy some of the prequal-era books and even those set between ANH and ESB or ESB and ROTJ).So I'm quite content to leave well enough alone. I'll certainly watch the live-action tv show, but I have my suspicions that it will merely render ST less special than it used to be, less of an event.
