Will FLAT screen TV's spell the end for consul TV's?

^ Better yet, why not have the flat screen actually *be* the wall? Some day...

I've been a little hesitant about that concept since reading Farenheit 451. Even if the cost and feasibility were okay, I don't know how good it would be for one's physical and mental health.

I don't mean *all* the walls, just one wall. :p

^ How would you service it when the TV inevitably broke? It would be a lot easier to remove and/or replace if it was a panel rather than fully integrated into the wall.

Here's a great comparison chart...

DisplayMate Comparison Chart for CRTs versus LCDs

My new iMac is officially my first flat-panel display, and I just can't get over this thing! Although I'm not entirely pleased with the extreme aliasing on certain curved objects when watching a DVD, I'm very happy with the black levels... as compared with my friend's 50-inch Samsung, which was only marginally darker than the background of this web page as we were watching the Overture for ST: TMP!

How one used a wall screen would greatly affect its impact. Persons who spend much of their recreational time away from the television and computer should be quite well.
