Will be there be nudity in Season 2?

Having most of the humans being pansexual could be interesting, even mentioning the idea of humans limiting partners to a single gender is seen as a prudish and backwards. They’re attracted to the person more than seeking out a partner with certain characteristics. Maybe implying this is really a more natural state for humans, only being enforced by harmful social norms in the past.

Which will severely date the show if it turns out that idea doesn't work universally and most humans are not remotely pansexual. I'm glad Verne didn't put phrenology into his novels, despite the appeal of those times.

Can we not?
Who are you to judge my opinion? I find Zoe Saldana and Mary Wiseman more beautiful (each in their own way) than Sonequa Martin-Green. I also prefer Chrusher to Troi, Mary Ann to Ginger, Monica to Rachel. Judging celebrities (or the characters they play) is one of the oldest Hollywood traditions. WHY is it so bad in 2018 to say one prefers one person over another? Sheesh, what is wrong with society?!

Because we're supposed to have moved on, become more enlightened and have stopped judging people based on their looks? Why is doing that better than judging you for your opinion? Probably unrealistic but just because a tradition is old doesn't mean it's good.

Just like women not being allowed to captain starships during TOS, any computer or PADD (yeah, let’s just put this one bit of information on this single device so you can have a stack of them instead of single one), the Eugenics War, the art direction being mostly inspired by the era it was made in and a ton of other outdated concepts.

Star Trek is not a 100% accurate vision of the future. It’s a show. They can justify it by claiming humans evolved or Q did it or just never explain it. It’s fiction, do what you want.

It might turn out that way, but as none of us will be there in the 23rd century why would it matter?

Back briefly to the main thread topic, what about showing nudity in a way that is a commentary on our current societal mentality with on screen nudity. Star Trek has always tried to tell allegorical stories relevant to our modern culture. What about scenes that show how unimportant nudity is in a setting like a starship. We saw the idea of this on nuBSG with common area barracks and bathrooms, but I am thinking also along the lines of the now classic (god I am old!) Starship Troopers, in the mixed gender shower scene. Showed nudity, and yes, the 20th/21st century me liked it for "teh b00bs", not gonna like, but it also was a quiet but in our face commentary on how unimportant stuff like that will be in the future? Maybe a good way for the showrunners to serve both masters? A little social commentary via titillation?

How about showing dignity in a way that is a commentary on our current societal attitude to nudity?

There is a double standard when it comes to nudity in men and women, and I’ll confess, I’d take a nude woman over a nude guy every time. I’d like to see Trek address that. Not by showing more male flesh, but less female.

Instead of midriffs and side boobs and crotch shots, have the female cast dress as dignified as the male.

Like how the burkini wearing volley ball team highlighted the hypocrisy of western freedom, how about a future where no one dresses as an object and pretends to be happy with it.

The starship troopers locker scene was certainly interesting, but, ugh, who wants that? Our local leisure centre has mixed changing facilities for the pool, and everyone uses a cubicle. Much better than a recent hotel, where the pool changing rooms were single sex, and no cubicles.

I see the future as being less about being comfortable with nudity, and more about boundaries and respect and privacy. Clothes designed for comfort and modesty.

That said, graphic blood and guts is more acceptable than a gash laid bare? It seems twisted, but I enjoy nudity, I don’t want to be decensitised to it.

I don’t want trek to be afraid to show nudity, but it shouldn’t be cheap.

Also, making categorical statements about beauty will result in wonderful agreements again.

There is just as much dignity and beauty in attire as nudity.
Legacy matters.
Yes, we are all so disappointed in Jules Verne right now...

You're probably right. I STILL giggle like a silly child with some nudity. I was watching 'Death At A Funeral' the other night and it was so seriously funny! By the time the guy who accidentally took acid climbed nude onto the roof it was just pure raw humour. Yeah I know cheap humour and cheap laughs with the toilet humour too, but mix that with great acting and script and it was fun. This is all kinds of wrong for me to say in these enlightened times but naked white bums, male ones, are too funny

I can retract my post if needed - I wasn't trying to show any kind of ignorance or intolerance or backwards thinking. Apologies if I did, or offended in any way.

No need. I only responded to your post as a counter balance to my own view, which itself, is continually evolving.

Everyone has view on nudity, and they’re right and wrong in equal measure. As I see it.

I also agree that we shouldn’t be squeamish about nudity, but we also shouldn’t feel like we shouldn’t be squeamish about nudity if we really are. If that makes sense.

Agreed about Roxann in her younger days. I know they wanted her to be the sex appeal of the show before they brought in Jeri Ryan.

Completely random, but does anyone else think actress Yaya DaCosta looks like a hotter Sonequa.
Lol. That's amusing.

I love Black people and I love Black culture (in many ways far more than Euro-centric culture).
And I stand by everything you reposted...

You're going to fail at trying to prove I'm a 'racist' when I loved Danai in Black Panther, and think she would be an amazing Black female lead on a Tv series.
Why do you think it is that so many people keep having an issue with your posts? Are they all imagining things, or is it possible that your posts are problematic? I'm tired of having to spend so much time reviewing your posts because you're always pushing the boundaries of the rules, decency, and good taste. Can you get through a single day without making a sexist post negatively judging women's appearance or a bigoted post lamenting the alleged over-representation of women, gays, and minorities on the show (and saying "I'm not white, so it's okay for me to say these things" does not excuse racist behavior)? I know you didn't do the latter above, but you have the other day and many times in the past and try and deny it above, which is why I'm addressing it.

I tried to give you a second chance after all your previous infractions because now the automatic punishments start getting more and more severe in terms of time off from the board when you get an infraction, but you've shown no interest in curbing your behavior, and fight back on every "friendly" admonishment to stop from mods and every post from your fellow posters telling you they have a problem with it.

If you are only here to negatively judge women's appearance (which is not what this thread is about, nor would it be allowed in another thread) or justify (and victim blame) the hacking and public posting of actresses' private photos then you get an infraction for trolling. Comments to PM.

"- the heroes are the Black female lead, the chubby girl, the Gay guy and the asexual Alien."

I could go on, but the mere fact you're still here pasting your explosive diarrhea passive-racist shit all over the place is pretty much proof you're immune to moderation while people who call you out for it are typically the ones chided, but there it is for anyone to see. this is you. Black women are disreputable commoditized legos to fill roles when needed but hopefully not too much.
I'm sure this will play into your erroneous assumption that it's the people who call out Kane_Steel that are "chided" for it while he allegedly gets away with it (which is nonsense since he's been given multiple infractions), but yes, the proper way to handle this situation is to hit notify on the offending post and let the mods deal with it.

I'm going to close this down because some people can't seem to handle the discussion without judging women's appearance, which is not what it should be about. Plus, this thread has caused too much trouble already.
