With the style of the new movie, I could see doing an updated Ralph McQuarrie Phase II design in the background - Would fit in nicely.
Actually, that design was for Star Trek: Planet of Titans, an aborted movie project from before Phase II was assembled. Probably around 1975.
Star Trek: Phase II was in prep around 1977-78 I think, and they were redesigning the Enterprise, introducing the flat nacelles, and the model was partially built by Brick Price.
When Phase II was changed for Star Trek: TMP, the Enterprise was redesigned AGAIN, and included some of the Phase II design changes.

I would like to see old classes pop up somewhere, but obviously in the same aesthetic as the NuEnt.
Even if there is, i doubt well notice it, itll be so subtle and out of the way.
Im not a fan of the Deadlus vessel. But it would be cool to see a re-design/inspired-by ship somewhere.
The Mirandas though, as said, are really dated, more so than the Refit Ent.

I was just thinking. That over the history of Trek lore/canon we've had specific classes of ships, Constitution, Galaxy.........etc
Since this movie seems to be an altered timeline, what class will we eventually call this new Enterprise?

I look at the Kelvin and think "SHIT" - seriously it just looks ridiculous, like someone decided later on to add a shuttle deck nacelle to the top.
I too am a fan of that class of star ship and hope someday we will see that ship on the big screen.
How about finally calling it, ENTERPRISE Class?
And I'm still holding out hope, that we will see a painting of the NX Class, somewhere in the halls of starfleet!

Well, briefly just after TMP came out, it was renamed the "Enterprise Class' in some literature (and blueprints). Mainly due to the fact that it was such an extensive refit/design, it was considered a new type of ship - first of her kind.
Whatever it's called, I would love to see this onscreen somewhere. If it had been up to me, it's what we would have seen in Enterprise.
And I love the Kelvin too, it screams "utilitarian" almost as much as this one here /\.
