Anyone tried this yet?

I just got the Wii and am anxiously waiting for WiiFit to be back in stock. Just curious, if you did manage to snag one this week, what do you think so far? What are the cool things? Do you actually get a workout?

I'm not going to get one, though the concept just makes me want to . I don't know. It's just a kinda oxymoronic concept that, if it sells big at all, I don't see getting much use after the first couple weeks or so. Eventually working out in front of a TV will lose its novelty, and everyone will go back to Super Mario Cart or whatever the new big one is.

I dunno, this is sort of the next generation of those workout videos that starting coming out in the 1980's and that are still coming out. Probably not enough to keep you fit alone, but as a supplement to a fitness routine they have their place. Some of us have kids and work long hours and don't always have an hour or more to get to the gym and back. I could fit in a strength training routine in about 20 minutes, or so, I figure.

Also, I've always done yoga to the TV, so this would be a natural fit for me. But I see your point. THose who bought Wii for gaming may not stick around for the fitness capabilities.

I know of quite a few people who are fit using exercise videos. They all hang out at videofitness.com, cathe.com, spinervals.com, etc. In fact, I did an 80 min. workout today (cardio w/light weights) that's a real scorcher. Granted, these are videos not available at the local Wal-Mart.

As for the WiiFit I think it's a great idea to get people who haven't been working out to give it a shot and hopefully become interested in fitness. I'm not planning on purchasing one though.
