Wii Sonic Screwdriver

I've seen the Wii-mote that is shaped like 11's Sonic Screwdriver. I'm wondering, does it work in the US?

I understand there are region restrictions on Wii games, just like on DVDs or Blu Rays. Does the same hold true for the accessories like remotes?

Does anyone in the US/Canada have one of these? If so, does it work like normal?

A quick bout of research and i've found out apparently accessories aren't region locked...

As likely for video game consoles, there's no region protection on accessories among different release versions. We have tested US version controllers on our Japanese system (and vice versa) and have not encountered any problems so far. Please be reminded however that you have to press the connect button on the system and the controller when assigning a new Wii™ Remote to your system

So looks like the Sonic Screwdriver remote will work on US or JP consoles... since it charges via USB, there's no voltage or power problems to deal with there either

Thanks Methos, that's good news. I just added one to my Amazon wishlist. And, if I remember correctly, the Wii remotes will work with the upcoming Wii U.

Hmm now ive just seen how cheap they are on amazon I am tempted to get one.
