Wifi Hard Drive w/PS3?

OK, so I have all of my music and a number of video files that I have backed up to a WD 640GB external USB hard drive. I've been plugging it directly into my PS3 to play movies/TV/music via direct USB connection.

HOWEVER, what I would like to do is be able to plug my USB hard drive directly into the USB port on my router and be able to access files over wifi. Is this possible?

It depends if your router has Media Server PC support, because that's the system that the PS3 seems to use for network discovery.
