Why won't NETFLIX offer ALL of Star Trek movies at once?

First let me say NETFLIX is probably one of the greatest things that has ever happened to fans in having all the series available at the click of a button.

...so what is the deal with the movies? They are never all up. Currently TREK V and VI are missing.

Funny, I saw VI listed on Netflix just the other day while browsing...

Are you in the US or UK or Canada? If either of the latter it may be a rights issue. If you're in the US... no idea. As I said, I saw VI just a day or two ago.

Anyway, what kind of a Trekkie doesn't at least own the films on DVD? :p Tsk tsk!

Something called licensing agreements...you know, how the real world runs.

Amazon Prime has all ten of the movies now.

Amazon seems to be both CBS' and Viacom's preferred streaming partner these days and/or Amazon is being more aggressive about getting licensing deals with CBS Studios and Viacom than Netflix cares to be.

Amazon has TNG remastered S1 through S4 (Netflix has zero) from CBS.

Netflix let a bunch of Viacom content lapse (like incredibly popular Nickelodeon shows) which Amazon quickly snatched up and then was able to trumpet that they had it while Netflix didn't. So it doesn't surprise me to hear Amazon has all the Trek movies while Netflix doesn't.

It all comes down to money. Netflix isn't willing to shell it out for all of the movies at once. That's their call.
