Good morning fellow trek fans!

I need to ask a HUGE favour. I've written a blog about Star Trek and why it's great to be a geek for an internal competition at work to 'Unleash your inner geek'. The person who gets the most views in the month of May (2016) wins a trip to Switzerland to visit the large hadron collider at CERN!

As I expect you guys will know, this is the most complex experimental facility ever built, and the largest single machine in the world - so obviously I really want to go!

Please click here to read my blog - and please feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested too :)

Thanks so much - hope you enjoy it!

With all due respect ... I rather preferred the premise the title of this thread offered. A statement seeming to invite debate ... and discussion: "Why Trek is Good for the Soul."

The obvious answer is that Star Trek is so hopeful. But there are many other reasons, at least for me. The Next Generation, for example, boasts a stellar role call of the brightest stars of the day: Sir Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, LaVar Burton ... and all the rest. The most beautiful women, too, like Michelle Forbes and Denise Crosby, graced TNG, helping to make it a standout in any Star Trek lineup.

The Enterprise "D" is a feast for the eyes ... an Interior Designer's dream come true! And more than any of this, the Classic, Timeless stories based on and built around The Human Condition. In short: TNG really satisfies. And that's how I see it, why Trek is Good for the Soul.

My apologies, I certainly didn't mean to mislead you with my thread title. My intention was purely to sum up my blog topic and hope some people were interested!

I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments - Star Trek makes me feel hopeful for the future. It also engaged my interest in science and technology and, as a result, made me grow into a more inquisitive and curious individual.

In short, it is good for my soul! I do appreciate your point however and will be a little less excited and a little more thoughtful when posting in future.

Don't temper yourself on my account, I didn't mean it like that, at all. I'm just this guy ... you know? Good luck and I hope you win.

Posting a link to your blog for the purpose of winning a contest is not a great way to start here. It's not actually a discussion about Star Trek.
