We all know that George Lucas is a massive control freak as far as Star Wars is concerned, but I've always found it odd that he has not done more with Star Wars in film and on TV. The Star Wars universe has largely been defined by the expanded universe. However by his own admission he is indifferent to the EU and does not feel all that connected to it. Yet rather than make more movies/TV and expanding his vision of that universe, he has Lucas Arts spend more time and money creating mre EU projects (like more novels and the forthcoming Old Republic projects).
Why doesn't Lucas just make more of his definitive universe? Instead of an Old Republic game, why not a new series of films set in that or perhaps the legacy era?
