That may be true. But his female fans will probably not discuss what this will mean for his weight. Mr Pine may very well end up like Shatner at the end of movies series. We should be happy that he´s a smoker.

Shatner never really looked "fat" to me until Star Trek V: The Final Frontier in 1989, and that was 20 years after the TOS went off the air in 1969.

During the first 4 TOS films, Shatner put on weight but it didn't look bad or make him look terribly out of shape.
