If he was gay, and annoyed by his huge gayness, why wouldn't she have been an exemplary beard?

Hoshi is a beard? I thought she was a translator with a huge head? Or is this a slang term for 'unshaven', if you know what ah mean... ;)

Odon, I honestly don't recall where I read that he was playing Reed as gay, but I distinctly remember he was quoted as saying that. Possibly he said it at a convention. Possibly the quote was made up and I am totally wrong.

Yeah you've got to be careful. This is such an issue among fans that every comment at a con gets magnified out of proportion, like a tongue-in-cheek reply or a look-I'm-just-an-actor-not-Rick-bloody-Berman-I-don't-make-the-rules-so-I'll-just-fob-you-off-with-whatever-comes-into-my-head reply. Just look at all the THE NEXT EPISODE/SEASON/MOVIE/SERIES WILL HAVE TREK'S FIRST GAY CHARACTER! or (INSERT FORMER ACTOR ON STAR TREK) SAYS THAT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A GAY CHARACTER ON TREK threads.

Given the sheer numbers, there's no way Kirk didn't notice too late he was bedding a transvestite at least once.

Don't you guys remember... In "The Interregnum" Reed is talking to Chef about his ex-girlfriend from "New Wales." right before the big battle scene.
