Instead of the dreadful show anout Robin why not foucs on more intresting secondary characters?

1Catwomen=a show about young teenage theif who also sometimes plays the role of hero when she see's a women in danger.
2Gordon=A ordinary cop going up against criminals that are anything but normal in a town were half of the police are corrupt. It would be comic-book styled "Serpico" type of show.
3 Alfred=A modern "Mr Beleverdere" :) A British butler comes to Wayne Manor and finds himself having to help raise a young Bruce Wayne and a sexy teenage girl who later will grow up to be Batgirl.

Catwoman would be some bland Mary Sue adventure. Commisioner Gordon would be yet another procedural show. The only one I would see working is the Alfred series only because he was a trained stage actor and former British Secret Service operative with his own adventures to share. The final episode could have him driving up to Wayne Manor to his new job to greet a young Thomas and Martha Wayne and their new infant son Bruce.

Couldn't be worse than the proposed premise for 'The Graysons' but didn't they try a mishmash of all of the above ideas before and it not go over so well called 'Birds of Prey'? Huntress was more or less Catwoman, you had Shemar Moore's cop character and Barbara filling in the police stuff, and then Alfred was there being himself.

Many hints have been dropped in the comics (and movies too, hunting bandits in Burma!) that Alfred Pennyworth had a very "interesting" and varied past before coming into the service of the Waynes. I could see a series done in the Young Indiana Jones style, with an aged Alfred as the framing device to earlier adventures.

Catwoman and Jim Gordon are directly affected by the BatEmbargo that DC has on its properties.

Alfred they've allowed to be used by other shows though. Birds of Prey for example.

I'd rather have a green lantern series in the same vein as "The greatest american hero"

^ That could be fun.

If you ask me, the problem with Birds of Prey was that it was a Batman show without enough of the beloved Batman characters on it. Having Barbara Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, & Harley Quinn was nice but the refusal to show Batman or the Joker for more than a few shadowy flashbacks just made the entire thing feel like watching the JV squad. These spin-offs seem the same way, although I agree there could be potential in an Alfred prequel series.

Again that was DC interference. Batman is a film property in their eyes, not TV. That's why he's not permitted to be on TV as well as the main Bat characters. The only real reason why Birds of Prey was allowed was because it is based on the Birds of Prey comic book series (loophole).

So the whole metahuman angle and being a copy of Smallville weren't problems with you?

I'd love to see a good Alfred Pennyworth series. He's a fantastic character who doesn't get nearly enough credit. I'd just hate to see it done by CW. Put it in the hands of someone like Ron Moore and I'd be all over it.

I'm particularly interested in learning why he's so loyal to the Waynes' and why he gave up the benefits of his former life (which doubtlessly landed him more than a few pennies to rub together himself) for one of servitude.

Re: Why not do a show about a young Catwomen, Alfred or Commish Gordon

DC and Warner Bros. would be wise to maintain the Batman embargo for primetime TV. Smallville has probably leeched away some of the demand for Superman, and cost Superman Returns a few million dollars in ticket sales.

Re: Why not do a show about a young Catwomen, Alfred or Commish Gordon

The Catwoman movie sucked ass. Why the hell would they make a tv series about her with the movie fresh in so many people's minds?

Come on! Catwoman. The CW. The marketing practically writes itself! :p

Re: Why not do a show about a young Catwomen, Alfred or Commish Gordon

I think they should do a show dealing with Batman's daughter taking over... oh wait.... :)

While I'll admit that I didn't watch much of it, what I did see of it didn't seem like a copy of Smallville. It was cashing in on Smallville's popularity, no question, but I didn't see really strong similarities.

As for the metahuman angle, I'd be willing to accept all kinds of stupidness if they had only thrown in a few more famous Bat-villains. And while I can understand wanting to mostly reserve Batman for the big screen, I think it would have helped Birds of Prey immeasurably if Batman had put in at least one significant guest appearance. Make it seem like the reason why he's not on the show is truly story related and not just because Warner Bros. thinks he's too good for TV (the animated series notwithstanding).

^ In a sense Bruce Wayne appeared in the Season Finale. Alfred was talking to him about Helena during the final scenes of the show on a telephone from Wayne Manor.

It was implied by Helena though in the same episode that the Batman may not have been gone.
