Why not 'Blue Alert' for DASH drive?

Black is a color, or rather lack-thereof that is easy to notice as well. If you are of a species that can't see red very well or distinguish red from yellow, etc, some of those color codes will be meaningless and you'll just have to go the vocal alert. turning non essential lights off will get your attention, though.

One of those things that is a trek staple but doesn't necessarily make sense. Like "yellow alert" what actually changes on yellow alert? They always tend to say "Red alert, shields up" . ok. fine. but why isn't it automatically assumed that sheilds go up the minute you say red alert. For that matter why weren't they up on yellow alert? doesn't seem all that alert. Maybe it should be Yellow Increased Awareness or something. They should just go with General Quarters and Battlestations but that opportunity flew the coop long ago.

Chartreuse Alert All hands to the liqueur.

The only thing I can think of about yellow and red alerts and why the shields don't automatically go up is that maybe there could be some transporting going on at the same time as an alert is called, and the shields could disrupt it (although we've seen time and again that transporting through the shields still happens even if it isn't supposed to...). That way the shields would need to be raised at a slightly later time.

But now I think I've overanalyzed it lol.

It's called Black Alert because they go full CSI Blacklight mode to check for ummm... spore residue, so you have to make sure you have clean sheets or you won't get a five star rating from Trip Advisor, which is literally an elderly Trip Tucker grading you on your cleanliness and advising you how to improve.

On DS9 and Voy they had 'Blue alert' for cloaking and landing, I always took 'Blue Alert' to mean 'Unusal Activity' so why not Blue instead of Black alert or Spore drive use? I know the real reason is because it sounds cooler but I'm trying to come up with an in-universe explanation.

Once you go black, you never go back... to blue that is

*Ninja'd by enterprise is great*
