Why no mor in series Enterprise Novels

When Christopher says "best-selling series", I think he means across the entire market worldwide; adding up sales for all Trek books collectively rather than considering any one specific country.

Though what is the top-selling series in Germany if not TOS, out of curiosity?

TOS, best-selling at large, point taken.

According to Cross Cult Destiny was a hit. Vanguard was great. TNG is good, also Titan. New Frontier and Voyager are all right. ENT had also bad numbers of sales, so they decided not to release follow-up novels (Christopher´s Rise of the Federation for instance). I´m fine with that, as I´m no ENT fan.

I don´t know about Typhon Pact. I liked this whole series.

Markus Rohde could offer more precise information, if he´s around again.

Yeah, that's where I got the idea. Nice way to have the novels celebrate the anniversary and bring in casual fans of the shows who aren't inclined to immerse themselves in the various post-finale developed continuities.

Besides, such a project need only take up five months, leaving seven months open to Typhon Pact stories, new DS9 and Voyager, Rise of the Federation, The Seekers and so on.

I think the main focus of the 50th is likely to be TOS itself, both because that's the specific series having its anniversary and because it's the best-selling series in the line. It'd be nice to have a full-franchise celebration in there somewhere, but the year will probably center on TOS.

On that note, I am expecting the September 2016 novel to be one epic TOS novel, since that month is the 50th anniversary.

According to a post on CC's Facebook page in September 2014 this is(/was at that time) the ranking of sales :

Star Trek – Titan
Star Trek – Voyager
Star Trek – The Next Generation
Star Trek – Typhon Pact
(Star Trek – Corps of Enginers)
Star Trek – New Frontier
Star Trek – The Original Series
Star Trek – Enterprise

I've been kind of surprised we haven't started to hear something about Trek's 50th yet. I'm just talking about in general here. It seems to me that the 50th anniversary of one of the biggest franchises in entertainment history would be a pretty big deal, even in the main stream media. I'm hopping we at least get some kind of a anthology or TOS trilogy or something from Pocket, and a big Prime TOS minseries from IDW.

It's still early yet. Even Doctor Who's big 50th anniversary hoopla didn't start generating discussion until seven months prior. And plans for things like special novels and comics didn't get revealed until the second half of 2012. So if there aren't any plans revealed by the fall, or no discussion for Trek's 50 in February 2016, then we can start worrying.

Yeah, I guess it might be early still.

Paramount/Viacom and the licensees (novels and comics, and sometimes games) celebrated Star Trek's 20th, 25th, 30th and 40th anniversaries. I'm sure 50th won't be forgotten by CBS, Paramount, Bad Robot and the licensees.

ENT had also bad numbers of sales, so they decided not to release follow-up novels (Christopher´s Rise of the Federation for instance).

They've announced today that Rise of the Federation will be published in German (I guess it could be an April's Foll joke, but I doubt it).

^Um, do they have April Fools' Day in Germany?

If this is legit, I wonder how the ROTF titles would translate into German.

Anstieg dar Foderation (literally Increase Federation): Unsicher Logic would probably be the German title of "Uncertain Logic.

Turm Von Babel would be Tower Of Babel.

Eine Auswahl Von Futures (literally a Selection Of Futures) would be A Choice Of Futures.

If that's the literal translation of "Anstieg dar Foderation", I'm not sure how fitting that would be. It's more "Rise" in the sense of an ascent to prominence, I always thought; like as in "rise of the Roman Empire". Not "rise" as in an increase. Unless that wording does apply to the former in German? Would that fit idiomatically as a translation of "rise" in the context of, like, "the king's rise to power"?

^ Beside the Point that they won't necessarily will do literal translations, maybe Tom shouldn't try to sell running the titles through Google Translate as knowing German. :vulcan:

The only one of these that fits would be Turm von Babel. The rest of these "translations" are bullshit.

ETA:
The series title most likely will be translated to Aufstieg der Föderation.

A Choice of Futures will be tricky. The literal translation would be Eine Auswahl an Zukünften, but that doesn't sound good IMO. Maybe here a less direct translation would be better, I don't know, maybe something like Zukunftsaussichten.

As I said above Turm von Babel fits.

Uncertain Logic could work as Unsichere Logik or Ungewisse Logik.

Oh haha, I thought he actually knew German, since I don't know it at all. That'd explain it then. :P

.

And maybe you should stop trying to sell that as a Google translation, since I didn't even use Google.

I was figuring (though I wasn't certain) that that title was a callback to Sarek's line from TSFS, so perhaps it'd be the same as whatever the German dub for the movie used for that line?
