Why No Canucks on the TOS Bridge?

What are you talking about? You're forgetting Scotty! Don't tell me you actually believe that cover story about him being from Scotland!

If you mean making one of the major characters a Canadian, I'm not really sure where you could have done that. The core group was already pretty diverse. The captain was a Midwestern American, the science officer was an alien, the doctor was a Southern American, the helmsman was Asian (later retconned to Asian American), the engineer was Scottish, the comms officer was African, and the navigator was Russian. I suppose they could have added a French Canadian security chief... ;)

All the signs on the ship would have to be bilingual or in French only if he were from Quebec and he would need to wear a universal translator with him everywhere he went...within the ship.

I like that idea. I also like the idea of having Vulcans on our 5 dollar bill.

First time I have seen this, so cool!

I've seen it done before but not with the eye-shadow, and it is an offence to do that here.
There were no Canadians on the Next Generation either or DS9 & Voyager.

Do you mean it is an offence to deface legal tender? Or, an offence to post this image? I just got this off of the net, someone else defaced these bills. I can't afford to risk defacing cash; I need all the 5 dollar bills I can get!

Sorry; to clarify the offence is to deface the bills (here in Canada), some people /places will not accept them.
And yeah I need all the $5's I can get too.

I have always wished that Canada would have been represented on the TOS bridge. So many other countries/ethnicities were and that is great, but no Canadians.

I think it would have been nice to have a bridge officer from Toronto or Montreal, or even Vancouver.

Ensign Jean-Marie Mackenzie from New Brunswick would have been nice. He might have been overly apologetic every time he bumped into someone when the bridge got jostled about (sorry, eh). He might have been seen pouring heavy amounts of maple syrup on the brightly coloured spongy "food" that came out of the synthesizers and he probably might have been the only officer who could keep up with Scotty when it came to drinking!

What do you think?

P.S. I'm a Canuck so don't any of you other Canadians get all ticked off and hate on me for perpetuating stereotypes about us (besides doing so amuses our American overlords and keeps them underestimating us). :techman:

Those grey cups would've been Tim Horton's cups when Rand brought in the coffee...

I'm just picturing the whole bridge crew rolling up the rims! :guffaw::guffaw::guffaw:

I always loved the episode of Next Gen where a young ensign tells Riker that he has family from Canada too, thinking that Riker is Canadian. As a Canadian, that scene always makes me laugh.

I am suprised that Star Trek never had any characters from Canada in any of the series. At least Star Gate: Atlantis had a Canadian officer (who was refreshingly a jerk!)
