You know, I bought the TJ hooker boxset the other day - only £9.99 (around $19.99 I would guess) - and the scene in question is hilarious. That's not the end.

It's actually a setup by Hooker to see if the rookie would shoot

There are blanks in the gun, it was all an elaborate test. Hooker rolls over and stands up and the kid is stood there shaking - he thinks its real.
