Why is Star trek nerdy but Star wars Cool?

Upon reading other replies, I think the elitist (and completely wrong) attitude that Star Trek is somehow intellectual or plausible contributes to the stigma against fans of it.

If transporters, replicators, warp drives and whatnot were real, understanding how they work might be a show of intellect. Listening to a bunch of junk science doesn't make you an intellectual.

There's also the idea that Trek explores Issues and Values and stuff.. yeah. That it's groundbreaking. Maybe if you never watched any other television in your entire life except MacDonald's commercials it might seem that way.

Granted on the Han Solo thing but the bad part about that is Harrison Ford bags on his fans that do like his work as Han.

ahem.. of course Kirk was a greater man. Really I had no idea that people disliked Solo until this thread. I saw A New Hope in the theater when it was just Star Wars and he was considered very hot indeed in comparison to the milquetoast Luke. Bitchy vs Whiny. Yes, I'm part of the furry fandom. It's definitely a big part of me, but I'm chill and drama-free coz I also realize how ridiculous it all is. Nice to meet ya!
