Upon reading other replies, I think the elitist (and completely wrong) attitude that Star Trek is somehow intellectual or plausible contributes to the stigma against fans of it.
If transporters, replicators, warp drives and whatnot were real, understanding how they work might be a show of intellect. Listening to a bunch of junk science doesn't make you an intellectual.

Yes, I'm part of the furry fandom. It's definitely a big part of me, but I'm chill and drama-free coz I also realize how ridiculous it all is.
