Why Is Scotty... (spoilers or imagination)

Son_of_Soong

Captain
Captain
In several trailers now weve seen scenes of Scotty supposedly on the bridge, soaking wet, in no uniform I know of, surrounded by security guards. Did he graduate with everyone else or did he somehow break into the ship and when he showed great engineering knowledge and stuff was given on ship training (like Wesley had, serving aboard the Enterprise before he went to the academy.)

It would also explain the "I like this ship" when he was asked how/why he got aboard and "This is exciting" when invited to stay. Theres likely a more obvious but I know nothing about Scotty's past in trek history and thought him looking different from everyone else and surrounded by secuity guards quite... strange.

EDIT: In the second trailer I believe he even has his hands raised in a "i surrender" like pose while grinning and looking around.

I read somewhere that Scotty is hired by future Spock to help get Kirk off the ice planet, that may be why he is wet and how he ends up on the bridge. I am under the impression that he has not been to Starfleet academy. Perhaps after this movie he decides to join SF Academy and flys through his exams and is placed aboard the Enterprise under request from Kirk.

He looks like a hitchhiker to me, wearing a few too many layers of clothing incase he ends up somewhere cold, the laughing 'you caught me' look with his hands up while surrounded by security makes me think he tried to sneak aboard. Either that or he was on the other end of a distress call someone says they've picked up in the trailer, is rescued, soaking wet, and brought to the bridge under guard since noone knows who he is or his motives at the time. Seems like a lot of security just for a survivor tho.

Here is the rumor/ spoiler that I think came from the 4 previewed clips...
What the rumor is right now is that in a Transporter experiment, Scotty accidentally turns an Admiral's beagle into a pile of goo. This Admiral (I don't know if a name is explicitly mentioned, but it's pointing pretty heavily towards Archer), then assigns Scotty to the most miserable assignment possible, the ice planet where Kirk luckily manages to end up.

Well that would explain why Scotty is soaking wet on the bridge of the ship, and why he is under heavy guard for crimes against... animality.

And is that box thing really needed, spoiler is written in the titles name :-P

Well unfortunately, even if the title screams "Spoilers!" in big, all-caps, bold writing, someone will still inevitably wander in, see the post, and then whine a little bit about it. Just playing it safe. ;)

I don't know, but NuTrek's Montgomery Scott has this strange British Hitchhikers's Guide to the Galaxy vibe... perhaps it's a Simon Pegg thing, but this guy really knows where his towel is.

However, since nuTrek is apparently set in a parallel universe, all bets are off when it comes to Scotty's biography or to details regarding his Starfleet career...

Archery, is your avatar the new photo of Scotty soaking wet on the bridge?

Well I have to admit that little bit of button knowledge does seem to fit perfectly with the few seconds we've seen of the trailer... course its only a few seconds.

My first thread... solved before it's time... :(

No, it's Hugh Jackman... it's a bit from one of the trailers for the new X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. This is the Scotty picture in question:

I get the idea that Scotty and Kirk arrived on the bridge unannounced, having used a not-yet-invented-in-that-timeframe method of transporting to a ship which is under warp, which would explain a surprised reaction and response on the part of the security detail and the fact that Scotty's hands appear to be raised in surrender in all bridge shots showing him wet and in ice-planet gear.

That also fits. Scotty seems more glad to be free of that place I'm not going to name since I don't know how do to the button thing than he does about the secuity guards around him :-P

Scotty's saves Kirk from that strange creature thing in the trailer that attacks him using some weapon he engineered himself, Kirk beams them both up to the ship unexpectly before the creature returns or attacks again (depending on how far away the ship is) where the security guards see some unknown person (Scotty) standing beside Kirk holding a weapon and quickly surround and disarm him. Impressed with both his engineering knowledge used against the creature and the fact that he saved his life, Kirk lets Scotty stay on the ship until they can drop him off somewhere.

Just an idea...

Actually ...

Spock is on the Ice Planet (Delta Vega), and Kirk's big creature is eaten by a bigger one right behind it.

A lucky close call for Kirk. Then he meets Spock, who does some exposition and introduced him to Scotty. Spock also gives Scotty his future/alternate self figured out for Trans-warp transport.

Nice idea though !!!

After the monster gets eaten by a bigger monster Kirk doesn't say "Theres always a bigger fish" and then smile at Jar Jar, I mean Spock.
