Why is Castle GRAYskull GREEN??!

Guy Gardener

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
35 years.

####.

Maybe "Grayskull" is the Sorceress' name?

"Mary Grayskull"?

Or the castle is gray under all that moss and filth? Actually, that might suggest that there's a connection between Moss Man and this gray castle covered in green moss... Also the ocular cavities to the skullface on the front of the castle are black, as if they had been set on fire a lot... Maybe that's how they, anyone with a little self respect and dignity, a previous owner, cleans the disgusting green moss off their gray castle? Setting fire to the bastard every 3 to 4 years or so?

If He-Man was colour blind, he'd always be taking "Panthor" out for walkies instead of Battle Cat, which are the same toy, but one is purple and evil, and the other is green and wholesome... And what about Evil Lynn? Skeletor's girlfriend (not really, they are just close friends, and it's more likely that she is his beard) who is a yellow doppleganger of Teela, Heman's girlfriend (not really, they are just close friends, and it's more likely that she is his beard) who herself is a clone of the Sorceress who I think had a romantic pairing with Man-At-Arms... Oh that's horrible. His daughter is growing up to look more and more just like his girlfriend every day. Well, I suppose that is almost true of a lot of daddy/daughter relationships.

Eww.

Regardless, the toy should have been called Castle Greenskull?

Because Castle Grayskull was named after King Grayskull, it was the seat of his Kingdom. It isn't named for its own color.

A rival murdered by king Randor, or Adam's gampappy?

(Google, Google.)

Gampappy. :)

I think the answer to the question is "moss." If it's not named after its color, that would also help clarify, but the question was technically "why is it a specific color" so I'm going to say "moss."

Why do we park on driveways and drive on parkways? Why do hot dogs come in packs of 10 while buns come in packs of 8?
Because some big shot over at the hot dog company got together with some big shot over at the bun company and...oh dear grodd, why did I have a Steve Martin quote lurking at the back of my brain!? I don't even like Steve Martin!

Does anyone know which came first calling hot dogs wieners, or calling dachshunds wiener dogs?

Probably calling hot dogs wieners, as the hot dogs were introduced at the World's Fair as Dachsund Sausage Sandwiches, soon shortened to Hot Dogs.

I’ll vote moss too. Though I always assumed it was grey, and only looked green to me. Like how the sea is meant to be blue, but was always green to my eye.

It's Eternia's biggest PR mistake for sure. Someone said "this is greenskull" and they wrote down Greyskull. Does that work?

I poked around Goog and found this: Who owns Castle Greyskull?
In the 2002 remake of He-Man, it is revealed that Castle Grayskull was once home to King Grayskull, an ancestor of Prince Adam, who died defending his kingdom and Eternia as a whole from Hordak.

How long ago can it have been, if we know that dude?

1. That wasn't so long ago.

2. Hordak is super old.

3. Hordak is a family name.

4. Hordak was trapped in stasis for a thousand years?

It was long enough ago that Adam didn't know about the guy and the Sorceress said that no one had seen a statue of King Grayskull in an Eon.

Hordak is either super old (because he's a demon) or time passes differently in the dimension King Grayskull banished him to.
