Why I think ST XI will be better

I have little doubt that the new film will be better than the last two....which were just 'coasting'

a whole new team with fresh ideas and a bigger budget cannot end up with something as crappy ans INS or NEM. If it will be better than FC, or TWOK is still up in the air but I hope so.

Paramount are paying attention to this one and are giving them more flexibility and resources. The team I think are more motivated. This isnt just the next one down the factory production line for them, this is a project they wanted and made happen. JJA could have made any movie as his first directing job under his new deal....he chose this one because he wants to see a great trek movie as much as we do. That says a lot.

It is certainly better than having a director assigned to the project who doesnt like it and isnt qualified (like with NEM)

Shatner is an extremely talented actor, which is sadly missed by a lot of people to stupid to really look and see what the man did with Kirk and with his other roles. His style is different and unique, but by no means bad.

Horseshit!

His acting ability is only "unique" if you consider a complete lack of dramatic range "unique." I've seen this man do Shakespeare, Twilight Zone, Star Trek, TJ Hooker, various guest shots and DennyCraaane, and I've yet to see him actually do one part any different from any other part! Wait! Scratch that! He actually managed to eke out five ounces of range when he was doing the voice of the Mayor of Frank in Osmosis Jones! So he can manage dramatic range as long as there's no camera around!

And...talkinglike this is...NOT a uniquetalent! It's A speechimpediment!

The man cannot act! This is not coming from a fuzzy-headed TNG-era fan. I grew up on TOS.

The man. Cannot. ACT!

Hey, don't get your panties in a twist.

And what, are you an actor or something? You go to acting school? Study the art of acting? No?

Didn't think so.

'Course, neither did I, but I'm right about Shatner being a great actor.

Certainly better than Patrick Stewart.

And hey, calm your ass down. Geez.

Shatner was good...better than good. However, I don't think he's the only one who can do a good job. He'll always be 'the' Kirk, but the original is over. A new kirk is perfectly acceptable. Assuming they cast the role well and the new guy has as much presence as the shat.

You don't have to hate what's old to like what's new.

why don't they just solve the problem and create a machine or serum to temporarily de-age people and de-age Shatner and have HIM play young Kirk. See, it's such a simple solution.

Hey, don't get your panties in a twist.

Go back and look at what you said in the post I responded to. Essentially, you said that if one does not acknowledge that Shatner is this genius actor one is stupid. I happen to think he's a shitty actor, so I guess this makes me stupid in your worldview.

And I shouldn't get my panties in a twist?

And since when is having attended Julliard a requirement for recognizing a crap performance?

'Course, neither did I, but I'm right about Shatner being a great actor.

And you are welcome to your delusions, but recognize that's what they are.

Certainly better than Patrick Stewart.

Again, horseshit! Unlike the Shat and his Trek role, Patrick Stewart has actually managed to play characters that weren't simply echoes of Jean-Luc Picard every once in a while.

And hey, calm your ass down. Geez.

This is me. Calm

William Shatner cannot act.

We have it. It's called "Computer Generated Image". Most of them look real enough that it's hard to tell the difference.

Willam emmy Shatner can NOT emmy act his way out emmy of a paper bag!! Guess that's why Roddenberry offered him the lead in a very expensive TV show, his bad acting.

If you mean Professor X -- he is rather picardish, except for the ability to use Cerebro.

I don't really care. Give me either one over Kevin Cosner, Keanu Reaves, or Tom Criuse.

Batman Begins is better than Batman & Robin.
Casino Royale is better than the uneven Die Another Day.
Rocky Balboa is better than Rocky V.
GoldenEye is better than Liscence to Kill
.
come on Garth :D you forgot put this on list.
Superman Returns is way better then Superman 4.

XI movie has to stand on itself so i think it is bad i idea having Shanter and evan Nimoy in XI movie. Nimoy role in movie is unclear but i hope its small cameo.

Hey yes forgot put on list that Superman Returns better than Superman 4 though this not hard to do, so no big deal.

Also XI movie will stand on self but must appeal to old Trek likers in this cases us who come to Trek place like this and so Nimoy role in movie is good.

Though not good Shanter not in movie. Oh well, maybe they'll get Shatner instead yes.

It should be pretty obvious by now that English isn't this guy's first language. How about criticizing the points he's making instead of his language skills? Or are you just bored again?

^^^He probably understood what I wrote using his approximation of English. Why make an issue of it and bring in rolling eyes?

Got to be something better to do with your time.

Thank you  for that and you are right about my English arent my first language.
I can understand spoken english 99% but my english spelling is not as good.

Yes, the movie will have to appeal to current fans, but I think it will take less effort for that than it would to re-introduce Trek as something for the masses.

From an early age, we are taught the differences in needs and wants. I want the ridiculously expensive USS Enterprise from Master Replicas. I don't need it. Possession of that item wouldn’t contribute to my sustenance. I really do want to see William Shatner come back and reprise his famous role as an older Kirk reflecting back on his youth in the next Star Trek movie. Or even just a cameo as an extra. But the sad truth is that this new movie, which is all but a remake considering the title, doesn't need William Shatner. It just would be nice, and dare I say respectful if they did have him in a genuine attempt at passing the torch.

As for Admiral2's less-than-stellar view on Shatner's acting, that is his opinion. Obviously the rest of us, and the Emmys, don't agree with him. In my opinion, anyone that is a better actor than Ben Affleck is considered a good actor in my book.

Whoa there skipper. I'll agree Captain Kirk is a better Captain than Captain Picard. But Stewart has a slighter edge in subtlety and in that he can cry like a girly baby on command.

I can also cry on command.

But does that make me a better actor than Bill Shatner?

Not by a long-shot.

....like a little girly baby sitting down in the corner of the room rocking back and forth? I couldn't, even if I wanted to. My testicles would get in the way. Evidently, Patrick Stewart doesn't have this problem.

In my defense: though I'm sure it sucks, I've never seen Superman IV.

Thanks to that technicality, I couldn't bring myself to list something I'm virtually certain of.
