Spoilers Why I think Discovery is ending after season 4

Long Treks on P+, but would anyone really go to the cinema to see Michael, Saru and Tilly?

I don’t think people would necessarily be less likely to go to cinemas to see them as compared to a bunch of new characters, or anyone other than the TOS crew.

I am really shocked, no one here would like to see DISCO as a major motion picture??? I am not a fan of this show but I would like to see what these characters could do on a larger canvas in cinemas, but not DISCO fans. Wow!

I am a fan (of the first two seasons at least; the third was iffy and I haven’t seen the fourth) but I don’t really see what being in a cinema would add. The effects are already very impressive in the big episodes, and they have the capacity to tell longer stories in TV format than they do in a film (albeit they never manage to land the ending).

Only 10 episodes, some people will spin that into a negative.
The 13 episode seasons were probably something mandated by the Netflix agreement. (and yes CBS ended said agreement before STD season 4 premiered, but not before it was produced.)

Now that it's specifically a Paramount+ production only, they've brought the episodes per season count down to 10 to align it with the rest of their live action Star Trek productions.

Both Picard and Strange New Worlds have had 10 episodes seasons; and that continues with their renewals for season 3 and season 2 respectively.

There is no writers' room set up as of today (compare that to PIC and SNW):

There is no studio space booked in Toronto:

For previous seasons you could see studio space bookings months in advance.
You can see the reservation for Strange New Worlds S2 (codename Lily and Isaac - Season 2)

EDIT:
Anthony Pascale from TrekMovie.com (hardcore NuTrek fan, not a NuTrek hater), speculated the rights of Discovery were entangled with spin-off shows like Strange New Worlds, and that is the reason they got it back.
ViacomCBS wanted a clean-cut and that Strange New Worlds has no ties to Netflix anymore.
You were WRONG.

No, I'm not.
Don't put words in my mouth. I never said that there won't be a season 5.

There is no writers' room as of today.
There is studio space booked in Toronto as of today.

And Anthony Pascale's speculations are his, these are not my assertions, I was relaying them.

You didn't outright say. To your credit, you're smarter than that. But you did strongly imply that's what you were leaning towards. Had they not renewed DSC for a fifth season, you would've responded with "No surprise there." You were careful in how you worded things but people can read between the lines. We know what you were hoping for.

Assertions that you agreed with. Actions speak louder than words. You wouldn't relay something if you didn't agree with it or didn't think it had any merit.

Anyway, I think Discovery will run seven seasons.

This is the reason: I think Picard will only run for three seasons. Paramount+ wants new Star Trek all-year round. That's their endgame. The fifth season of DSC would probably be released the same year as the third season of PIC. If they end DSC and PIC the same year, they'll be down two shows. I don't think they want to do that. I think they'll want to replace one series at a time, not two. So DSC's fifth season won't be the last if PIC ends after its third. And if DSC makes it to six seasons, they might as well just go the full seven and say "It's a Star Trek Tradition!" Then end the series with a lot of hype, or at least as much as they can across social media.

What do you make of the assertions you shared? How do you feel about Discovery being renewed?
