I want to create my own missions fly where i want to go. Im the Captian i make decisions. Like tell Checkov take us to the roman neutral zone. Ill take it from there :vulcan:

So you want a Star Trek: Skyrim?

Ding ding ding ding......we haaaave a winnerrrrrr!!!!!! :)

Sometime back, I was actually drafting up an idea for a Star Trek game with Fallout New Vegas/Skyrim type free roaming....and it was quite detailed.

I just can't see that working. Star Trek is about exploration, yes, but it's not a franchise suited for a single character running around a giant universe doing whatever the hell he wants. It needs more plot and a focus on teamwork. More Dragon Age; less Skyrim.

A more expansive game along the lines of "Elite Force" could actually be pretty awesome. That was one of the most fun games I'd ever played.

Open world (or open universe, if you prefer) games are very expensive to make. Trek games tend not to sell in numbers necessary to justify that kind of expense.

That said, if you don't mind low-res graphics, the Tiny Trek project is looking pretty cool.

Plus, a publisher would have to pay a lot of money to licence the Star Trek name, adding the costs of developing an open-world on top of that would make it very difficult for the game to be profitable. It would probably be more profitable to make a generic universe that appeals to a wider pool of sci-fi fans than just Trekkies, a la Mass Effect.

My dream Star Trek game would be a combination of Mass Effect and Bridge Commander.

My dream Trek game would be something like the Battlecruiser games, but a) with generated storylines and b) not complete garbage.

Actually, I had a multiplayer cooperative element in mind for my game. :)

I am a big fan of the Super Star Wars trilogy of platformers on the SNES, so my dream Star Trek game would be that approach taken for Trek. Each movie gets its own game. The Motion Picture would be a little hard to adapt, but the rest would be easy. For fun I actually broke down the Wrath of Khan into about a dozen levels a few years back.

My dream game would be a procedurally generated world with a storyline, with:

Ship control/combat as: Bridge Commander
Shipboard interaction as: Consortium
Planetside exploration: First Person

Making up your own story as you go by space exploration and planetside roaming, or following the storyline which would involve a mix of all 3, and all of it tied into reputation/diplomacy and randomized events.

Ability to switch between ship control and shipboard views at will, allowing the ability to interact with crewmembers, revealing subquests and activities to be done while a ship is travelling. Randomized events could include the boarding of guests and intruders, all of which are determined by your reputation and diplomacy, and planetside missions requiring you to find suitable planets for finding specific materials or people.
