Why Does Saavik Stand Up?

My dyslexic brain seriously read the title as "Saavik does stand up." And now I'm a little disappointed that it isn't.

"Posit: Why did the Gallus Gallus Domesticus cross the road? The answer to the riddle is that it wished to get to the other side, where it would then continue its journey uninterrupted by a poorly positioned human thoroughfare designed for commerce and travel. That is the joke. It would be logical to laugh now and for the next 11.3 seconds, before cessation of laughter is necessary."

"I have recently completed several hours of runabout travel at Warp 5.5, beginning at Starbase 47. And it is notable that my arms are fatigued."

"Attention, loud speaking human in the front row. Is your cranium lacking in follicles, or is there a large quantity of oxygen-engorged bubblegum protruding from your torso?"

"An undomesticated equine proceeds to enter an establishment where liquor is served. The proprietor inquires as to why this equine's facial features are elongated."

"Accept my bondmate. I insist."

"...And then the representative of the familial unit exclaimed, 'The Aristocrats!'"

"Indeed? Sir, I might point out that while I may be intoxicated, your visual representation is inadequate; however, upon the next rising of T'Khut I shall no longer be impaired."

"Your secondary female ancestor is clad in Starfleet issue footwear."

Remember Star Trek - Generations: Riker remains standing while someone else (a lowly ensign?????) was catapulted through the air - not surviving it - while crash landing on Veridian III.

We already know the computer tracks everyone on the ship. So in an emergency, it automatically increases the inertial damping field around the command staff. RHIP.

When I read the thread title, I *thought* it was going to be about why Saavik stood--effectively abandoning her station--to make up that thing about General Order 15 to Kirk. Maybe Saavik just doesn't like to sit.

Why Does Saavik Stand Up?

Because Kirk didn't put the seat down.
