Why does my dog do this?

My old dog used to love to lay on anything that smelled like me or my dad. Slippers, pants, a hat, a shirt on the bed, whatever. And if he wanted to lay someplace where there wasn't an object around that smelled like us to lay on, he'd go get one if there was one available.

My dog brings gifts to people who enter the house. Usually it's a shoe from the bottom of my mom's closet, but if other things are on the floor, he could be delivering a bra to the pastor paying a visit. One time I had a guy over and he brought a tampon, still in the wrapper and everything.
Another thing he does is use humping as a form of terrorism. If, for example, he wants to go outside and I'm being lazy, he'll go grab a pillow from my bed, bring it to wherever I am, and hump it. If he begs mom for dinner and she doesn't get the hint, he'll get a pillow from her bed.

Do you spend a lot of time in the room where the clothes is places? She may think the shirt ought to be there. Or she just wants something of yours. My cat likes to sleep on my old bed sheets when I've changed my bed.

OTOH, my cat used to find my used hats, mitts when I lost them and bring them at least to the house.

Not to get off topic Flux, but I have to reiterate how much your dog on the right looks like my childhood dog. It's mesmerizing.
