Why do almost all StarFleet ships have a Aft Ventral-Side Concave cavity on the StarDrive?

It's to stabilise the warp particle quantum resonance field, without that design feature there would be a catastrophic build up of negatively charged tachyons that would affect the phase polarity of the antimatter containment pods, that or it just keeps the secondary hull from looking too blocky.

Yet you look at all the other Alien species with "Warp Drive" and they don't have the same cut-out.

So I'm more inclinded to believe your secondary reason.
