Soji's distrust of Picard felt completely manufactured. Even if she didn't get a "trust Picard" message, she should've known who he was due to her supposed encyclopedic knowledge of Borg info. Soji was sharp enough to get assigned to the Borg cube, and knew things about the Borg that she didn't even realize she knew. When Dahl “woke up” she got a trust Picard message, both in instinct form and the conversations with her mother. Why didn’t Soji get the instinct when she woke up? It certainly would’ve been useful to her at that point.
Probably because she was on Earth. Soji wasn't.When Dahl “woke up” she got a trust Picard message, both in instinct form and the conversations with her mother. Why didn’t Soji get the instinct when she woke up? It certainly would’ve been useful to her at that point.
Probably because she was on Earth. Soji wasn't.
Soji: You fought in the Dominion War?
Picard: Yes. I was once a Starfleet officer, the same as your father.
Soji: I wish I'd known him.
Picard: He was the best scientific mind in the galaxy, and a cunning officer. I understand that you've become quite a good scientist yourself. And he was a good friend.
Soji: How did my father die?
Picard: A young praetor of Romulus named Shinzon, who was a clone of mine until he turned to evil, helped Romulans like your boyfriend hunt down and destroy Starfleet officers. He trapped and murdered your father.
She was physically closer to Picard than Dahj.I assumed it was a preprogrammed message...

Bad Wifi connection. When Dahl “woke up” she got a trust Picard message, both in instinct form and the conversations with her mother. Why didn’t Soji get the instinct when she woke up? It certainly would’ve been useful to her at that point.
?? Dahj was living on Earth, as was Picard. That's why Dahj was given sub-conscious programming to seek Picard out if she was in trouble. Soji's part of the mission saw her sent to work on the Artifact, in another part of the galaxy entirely, with no reason for Maddox to suppose Picard would ever go there. That's why she wasn't given the 'trust Picard' programming. She wasn't expected to be anywhere near him for him to be able to help her. The way they were programmed had nothing to do with the sequence of events that actually transpired, it was about what Maddox tried to anticipate when constructing the synths.I don't think so, Picard was on the cube at the time. When Soji woke he was in France and she was.....somewhere not France.
Not because Plot. Because, like I said, one was stationed on Earth, close to Picard, and the other was stationed half a galaxy away. It doesn't matter that Picard happened to be on the Artifact with Soji when she activated. Maddox had no way to foresee Picard making that journey and therefore didn't allow for it when he constructed and programmed the synths. The ultimate sequence of events has no bearing on the plans Maddox made three years earlier. He was a human and could only anticipate so much. Each of the twins was given the specific programming she was expected to need, given the circumstances in which she was being placed. Soji didn't have the Trust Picard programming because at the time she was constructed she wasn't expected to ever be anywhere near Picard and therefore wasn't expected to need it. Simple as that. Dahj was given that specific programming because she was stationed on the same planet as Picard, close enough to be able to get to him if she needed to.My guess? Dahj had the Trust Picard software but Soji didn't. Because Plot.
I suspect Kahlesh worded things sloppily. I think the question pertains to the fact that when Dahj was activated after the Romulans attacked her in Boston and Picard was in France, she got the "Trust Picard" message. Meanwhile, when Soji was activated after Narek's attempt to kill her on the cube, Picard was also on the cube but she did not get the Trust message.
