Why did SNW alter the Enterprise bridge?

And then Deepfake "Where No Man Has Gone Before(TOS)" William Shatner's face over top of whomever is the body stand-in.

I guess I'm a bit more of a literalist than most. I mean, if the corridor suddenly vanishes in between DSC and SNW, I'd hope for an explanation. How can they just pretend it was never there? Was it ever there?

I mean, I don't see how that's any bigger a deal than the major changes in the bridge of the Enterprise-A between TFF and TUC, or the differences between the Enterprise-D bridge between "All Good Things..." and GEN, or the differences in the Defiant bridge between seasons three and four, or the differences between the HMS Bounty bridge between TSFS and TVH.

The only reason I would ever want to see Kirk turn up in SNW is so we could see his first meeting with Spock.

There's also the Farragut disaster, but then they'd have to explain why KIrk and Pike don't meet. (That doesn't happen until Pike actually turns over command of the Enterprise to Kirk.)

I mean, in fairness, it wouldn't be that difficult to construct an episode where someone from the Enterprise joins the Farragut crew for the disaster and works with Kirk before returning to the Enterprise, all without Pike ever being part of the show.

No it shouldn’t

I think some fans can’t help themselves.

I think the updates look good. Some of the technology on the TOS bridge is already obsolete, like CRT monitors. I also don’t care if they lose that little sensor scope thing Spock looks into. It’s wildly impractical and we are already able to do better.
