Why did SNW alter the Enterprise bridge?

That corridor could still be there and simply be accessible by the turbolift rotating in place. They were probably only for access anyway, and maybe the ramp down to the sunroom or to any briefing rooms that might be on deck 1.

Maybe that ramp was always there in TOS, but we just couldn't see it anymore because the bridge was rotated 40 degrees counterclockwise....

I'm only assuming there's a ramp down to that level instead of another turbolift stop. For all I know they'll get rid of that empty space altogether.

Can you add more details?

Discovery is being filmed at Pine Wood Studios in Toronto, SNW at a newly built CBS exclusive studio a few km away in Mississauga.

Since the set is similar, but different, it seems that they reused portions of the Toronto set, with modifications, like the mentioned lack of a corridor.

Isn't it fairly common for them to tweak the bridge (if not many sets) between seasons? It seems pretty inconceivable to me that they wouldn't between using it as a total of 20 minutes as a guest bridge and it being the star set of its own show.

TNG saw tweaks to the Main Bridge set through all 7 seasons before a major overhaul for Generations.

The overhead monitors at the stations as well. They added Spock's slot viewer/scanner between the pilots and "The Corbomite Maneuver."
Good point about the continual changes made to the set, however:

But it was painted blue for the production run, so yet another tweak.

He looks like Red Green!

They've got a completely new transporter room set from what we saw in the proto-SNW Short Treks as well. And that bridge has different lighting and colour schemes on the console displays.

I think this show might be a Superman and Lois to Discovery season 2's Supergirl. Same actors, same characters but pretty much a fresh start.
