ok ... kirk is not a hero for cheating on the exam because the trial never finished, but the change in timeline that effected kirks life doesnt explain why instead of being a graduate of both the vulcam science academy and then starfleet was changed. if i remember correctly spcok driven to prove he was as vulcan as any pursued excelling in all things vulcan (star trek animated series) this graduating top of the vulcan science academy , then had basically a mid life crisis and ran off and joined starfleet which is what caused a rift with him and his father (tos) its living between two worlds thst drives spocks motivations and why he is bond to kirk who he lives through as a human. while being able to play the vulcan... my question is why did they dump the deep character background of kirk and spock and primarily spock and made him kind of a spoiled child instead

IIRC.He chose Starfleet over the Vulcan Science Academy. That's what caused the rift.

No, he wasn't. It was his rejection of the VSA that caused his rift with Sarek in TOS.

They didn't "dump" it. Much of what you call "the deep character background" would not yet have been established by 2258 (when most of the events of the first movie take place.) By making the setting an alternate timeline, the backgrounds of Kirk, Spock and the rest may be established differently in some aspects while remaining similar to those of the Prime timeline in others.

btw here is a real fun fact yeah i post a lot here is why because for the past 10 years i was dighting a real war none of you bothered to even watch on the news now im
half blind with plastic body parts and indont have anyone to watch shows i love with and talk about them but thank you for making me regret wanting to have a shared democratic discussion with people in a country i fought for over one of the things that made me want tonfight for it
