Why cant they make a real Trek game for playstation 3?

They other game all you have is ships firing each other. I like to see a trek game youre the captain of the U.S.S Enterprise. You make the decisions where you wanna go and investigate alien ships or accept a task from the Federation. You can also explore planets.But be very caution you never know what aliens may approach you. And based on your decision could trigger a war or a battle. That i like them to make.

Me too (and make sure it plays on the PC too!). Check out A Final Unity and 25th Anniversary & judgement Rites, as I think they sound more up your alley. Also try Harbinger.

i doubt a trek game on a console will sell very well... and the latest games are going after the "big bangs" to try to appeal to more players... a trek rpg, ala mass effect, would probably tank in terms of sales. maybe trek online will save the trek game franchise and get developers excited about it...

There's not really been a game along the lines you describe, which is unfortunate since that would be the most attractive to me as well.

Mass Effect seems to be the closest thing to a good Trek-style game. Sadly for now, demand for someone to do the same with the Trek name is pretty low. But yeah, judging from this new era of games with deep storylines and a lot of non-linear gameplay (again, BioWare being a great example of such a consistent company), it could make for a great an epic Trek game.

Remember a game called GTA4? That game is sooo realistic you can commit any kind of crime and you can get away with it. Like make a trek game simalar to that. Youre in captains chair giving orders. You can even explore the enterprise. You set any course you want. Hell you can even go into the neutral zone and give the romulans trouble

I'd love to see a really well done, open-ended Trek RPG. But as others have said, given the poor performance of Trek games recently and the hefty investment it would require to develop such a game, I don't expect it to happen any time soon.

Agreed. And I think it's wrong to say the Trek brand name is low, wasn't the new film one of the top films of last year?

I think a lot rides on Star Trek Online, which I am certainly excited about.

One reason more games aren't developed for the PS3 is because it has a famously difficult programming environment, but that's unrelated to Trek I am sure.
