Why can't the augments sew?

Plus, did you ever try stitching something together using only a set of test tubes and graduated cylinders? Soong may have been really sharp on biology, but he was a bachelor and was utterly incapable of figuring out that clothes might someday be in need of repair. The Augments are lucky they're still alive after twenty years of eating nothing but ravioli out of a can and salted pretzels.

Well he was a king, or a Khan at any rate.

As for the Augments, the moment I saw them being escorted onto the Klingon ship I thought of Khan's men, so that was clearly what we were supposed to think of.

And let's face it. Flying around in Klingon or other less-than-sanitary and well-stocked ships doesn't encourage hygiene and fabric maintainance.
