Why Bring Back Rose Tyler?

*Sees thread title*

SHE'S COMING BACK!!??

NERD RAGE!!

*reads thread*

oh.

The obnoxious slut was in way more than that.

Hello, misogyny. How are you today?

*giggle*

Ahem...anyway. I never got why people hate Rose so much. I always liked her. I hate Martha, though. She was the obnoxious bitch that should have died a gruesome death.

Rose's appearances in Series 4 are cool in my book - she got her Consolation Doctor and everyone was happy. I could have done without that bitch Martha in both Doctor Who and Torchwood. She was useless. The Master should have shut up and shot her already.

Rose coming back in series 4 was pointless, and it might have helped if Piper had even player her like she used to (I know the dental work she'd had at the time didn't help)

In contrast the small Rose cameo in The End of Time was lovely I thought:shrug:

^ This is essentially my opinion on the subject.

I don't feel she "ruined" Series 4, but after "Doomsday," if we hadn't seen Rose again till the nice cameo in TEOT, I would have been perfectly happy.

Can we possibly act like adults for once and not have to refer to female characters we don't like as obnoxious sluts? I don't care if you don't like Rose...there is no evidence she acted like a slut and no need to use that type of wording. She was not promiscuous just because she was in love with the Doctor. I can't stand using derogatory language to describe characters we don't like. End of rant.

Anyways yes season four was about closure for Rose. I suppose it is one of the reasons why the finale was called "Journey's End" it brought to a conclusion the Doctor and Rose's story. As for the original posters stance that season four is one of the weakest? Huh? Since when have people taken this stance? I remember most of us raving about it in our weekly episode thread discussions and how good Catherine Tate was. I think it's probably the strongest outside of series five.

Exactly. Calling a woman (or female character) a slut just because you dislike her is misogyny, pure and simple.

Rose WAS Davies. Rose was there from the beginning of RTDs running of the series. He created her and she was him (and us). The human traveling with the Doctor. When Davies was leaving, his character alter-ego had to be there to say goodbye.

I came to say this, but I see that you got here before me. :)

I'm glad that Rose came back, myself. I felt she provided a fitting bookend to 10's story. I don't have the loathing for her that others in the thread obviously do.

I don't know, apparently Anthony Hopkins likes to eat people and Rock Hudson was straight...

No. It isn't. And we're talking about a fictional character here. Let's all remember that before getting on soapboxes.

Irrelevant to the question. You don't get to call a fictional black character the n-word just because you dislike the character without that behavior being acknowledged by others as racist. The same should apply to slurs against women.

Again. I don't give a damn if Rose Tyler is a fictional character or not. Or if you like her or not. It's not necessary to call her an obnoxious slut and I felt offended by Omaha Star using that term. I guess that's okay language to use though...and no one still has provided any shred of evidence to suggest otherwise to me. "It's a fictional character" just reeks of ignorance...and as for being on a soapbox...I guess you don't have a woman in your life Josan if you think it's okay to use derogatory terms in that manner. If you did then maybe you'd understand why this is offense. It's called having respect.

Yeah, of the new companions Rose is the one I liked the least. But would never call her a slut. Obnoxious maybe, but not a slut.

And I for one have no problem with that (even as I disagree with it), because "obnoxious" is not a slur against women.
