Why aren´t there any Direct to DVD Star Trek Movies?

Why aren´t there any direct to dvd Star Trek movies like the Stargate
ones?

I would love to see one about the DS9 crew or a crossover where actors from TNG, Voyager and DS9 starred.

Are the actors too expensive? Or wouldn´t trekkers buy them? Any ideas?

a) There is a theatrical movie ready to make quite a bit more money.
b) the suits in charge did not think it would make any money before - pretty much Stargate started this movie thing relatively recently.

Stargate does it easy cos the sets were still around.

Trek never bothered, and once DS9 or Voyager ended the sets were demolished.

Usually direct to DVD movies are considered to be garbage by most people. It woud turn off people from buying it though the direct to DVD Stargate movies are definiely changing that to some extent. Plus Paramount wants Trek as a tentpole series and not just a small DVD one.

Some are pretty good though. Stargate has a few good ones and the Futurama ones have been really good.

You're exaggerating.

There have only been two STAR GATE direct-to-DVD movies, and even many of the fans disliked "Continuum".

As a side point, how many Futurama DVD movies have there been, and what are their titles?
