Why are Bond actors not typecast while Trek actors always are?

Because mainly people consider Bond cool and Trek nerdy.
It's interesting how Daniel Craig was lobbying to be in Star Trek XI as soon as he became Bond.

Peter Weller, Patrick Stewart, etc. claim to be not fans of science-fiction, but those are the roles that they reluctantly receive/accept, while someone like Craig who has more leverage in the industry actually relishes appearing in genre films. :borg:

I don't know that they ever became more than idle rumors, similar to the "Matt Damon as Kirk" stuff that came up when the film was first announced. Certainly Craig's filming schedule on Quantum of Solace prevented him from being in Trek XI, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's some sort of clause in his contract about being in two big (and potentially competing) franchises at the same time.

because trek and trek actors (in general) and trekkies are looked upon by non-trekkies as losers. face it, we're doomed as far as mainstream popular culture is concerned. I just hope JJ doesn't push us farther into the black hole :(
