Did you first learn about Hamlet by watching Gilligan's Island?

^^Well, Shakespeare's plays aren't meant to be read, they're meant to be seen in performance. There are plenty of film adaptations you could try.

The Kenneth Branagh version is the one that usually wins the "Duelling Hamlets" section in my "Intro to Theatre" class.

I should probably start using the Gilligan's Island version as well.:)

My first hint of exposure to it was through The Odd Couple, but GI was my first full exposure to it.

I used to annoy my brother and cousins by constantly singing 'Neither A Borrower...'

Fair enough, but I'm not inclined to watch it either. I for one, don't get the attraction to Shakespeare. But that's just me.

it may not have been the first but it is the one that stuck. I still get those lyrics in my head and will be humming them all day (singing in my mind) thanks to this thread.

(what I'd like to tell the OP about reminding me would best be done in The Neutral Zone!)

Well the songs came roaring back into my head earlier that day, and I just thought I shouldn't be the only one to suffer the torment of having 1 song loop over and over again your head.

Neither a borrower, nor a lender be,
Do not forget
Stay out of debt.

Think Twice
and take this good advice from me,
Guard that old solvency.

There's just one other thing,
you ought to do,
To thine own self be true.

The song still hasn't stopped. I most likely will be humming it, or singing it, or hearing go round and round in my head for a good long while. The really sad part is that it pushed songs from Les Misérables out of my head.

Maybe if I listen to Cats or The Phantom of the Opera or better yet, West Side Story, I'll get different songs stuck in my head.
