Well? I'd have to say Greenwood Pike, just comes across as the most believable as a seasoned "military" officer.

Who's the third "PIke"??

My first instinct was "anyone who plays the role", regardless of how the role is written. I mean, in terms of the character, if you haven't heard the phrase "a porcupine by any other name trickles as sweet" except porcupines don't have any the ability to tickle as a noteworthy personality trait...?

Hunter, then Mount. Greenwood is great is a little bit different in terms of how I view Pike. Better as a father figure to Kirk, vs. the more gentle leadership style of Mount.

Just received the Burning Dreams novel. Another Pike adventure. We didn't see much of Hunter onscreen portraying Pike. I don't mind different takes on that role.....

Hunter, then Mount. I like the character who Greenwood plays, but that character isn't much like Pike to me.

In the end I just voted 'Pike'. I like the character more than the actor playing him. Same with Spock.

I actually really like Pike in almost every portrayal. He's a great mid-point between Kirk and Picard in terms of personality and style, and even though Kirk is my favorite captain to watch, Pike is easily the captain I'd most want to serve under.

For me, it’s definitely Mount. I never liked Greenwood as Pike.

I was wondering if the third Pike was supposed to be Sean Kenney but the OP forgot his name and couldn’t be bothered because all he did was sit in a chair

LMAO, that’s what happens when you rush it and do it half arsed, I can’t delete the option unfortunately.

Well Jeffrey Hunter defines the role for me.

But with the more recent depictions I would go with Mount.
Greenwood's hair is just nowhere near as impressive.

Mount.

Hunter was good, but "The Cage" was a one-off. Mount is making Pike his own ongoing role. I'm interested in this character.

Bruce Greenwood. He was a pretty decent guy, but with a little edge about him. Jeffrey Hunter seemed a bit too emotional for my tastes. And Anson Mount's Pke simply bored me.

I just started re-watching Star Trek '09 and was thinking about this. I do like Greenwood's Pike, but it's a different flavor than Mount's. Mount just seems to exude charisma.

I will say Mount has the advantage of screen time, being a main character on Discovery for a season, then featuring prominently in a Short Trek, and now having a full season of his own show. Discovery was enough to probably get him more screen time than Hunter, Kenney, and Greenwood combined. Also having his own show gave us a chance to see the personal side of Pike, as well as how he socializes with his crew.

A point in Hunter's favor is how much of that he conveyed in his turn as Pike. His conversation with Boyce fills in a mound of backstory for him (someone recently pointed out how well it set up the rest of the episode, with the recent disastrous away mission, him wondering if he should leave Starfleet, and his love of horses, all of which are things the Talosians use against him). That one scene in his quarters conveys a hell of a lot of characterization.

I'd say Pike has been a character who has not been done poorly on-screen. Even Kenney with his pained, blank stare did a lot to convey the suffering the character was going through.
