Who's that guy? (Celebrity tales)

I met former Giants first baseman J.T. Snow last year. Got a signed t-shirt from him, too.

I had an run-in with my fellow University of Arizona alum J.T. Snow last year too when I quite by chance found myself sitting just a few feet from him at an alumni tailgate party at Stanford. That wasn't even the cool part. As everyone was leaving to head into the stadium, I unexpectedly found myself walking along between J.T. Snow and former 49er great Jerry Rice! I don't know why Rice was there. Perhaps they're friends.

I am not 100% sure of this but a few years ago, I went to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition, happens once a year on the last two weeks of August) and we were betting on a horse game and I looked up and was pretty damn sure I was eye to eye with Trish Stratus (for those who watch wrestling). She noticed me staring and she kinda started looking a bit uneasy, as if I was going to yell out HOLY SHIT TRISH STRATUS IS HERE and then a rush of people would run over. She smiled politely and we just kept playing.

+10 for being able to recognise her ;)

I haven't had the most famous encounters in the world, but the wierdest one was in Perth (thats the Scottish Perth ;)). I was just out for the day with some people, trying to be sociable at an age where I figured everyone around me was an idiot. Went into a public restroom and mid stream I noticed that Ally McCoist (football player of old) was right next to me.

Took a few moments to recognise him. I'm pretty sure he thought I was having a peek.

Thankfully everyone else I've met has been through some form of work - so I've had time to appear more dignified. Which only ever failed once. Well... maybe twice...

Nicholas Parsons once watched me lose a game of pool a few years ago during the Edinburgh Festival. He didn't stay for long.... just a minute. :guffaw:

I've been lucky enough to meet many famous folk over the years.

My favorite couple was Shirley Jones and Jack Cassidy..they were performin "Wait Until Dark" and had scared the daylights out of even the grown men in the matinee audience.

Waited with a fried outside the stage door and the friend was doing Jack's old role in the musical "Superman." jack gave a great whoop and went for his pen to sign the script when Shirley reminded him it was a Tams Whitmark rental, so they found a pencil to use. Thank goodness this WAS after photo copying came out, costly, but Steve got his autograph.

I work in a place frequented by famous people, but my favorite moment was years ago, in Australia.

In a restaurant, a young man walking by our table dropped his watch.

I picked it up, followed him to his table, and gave it back. No biggie.

A few minutes later, Paul McCartney came over and thanked me for returning his son's birthday gift.

I didn't say anything about who he was. We were just two guys shaking hands. He very much enjoyed glancing at my old girlfriend's big knockers.

Joe, lucky
