honestly didn't notice it . . . I noticed the tux (tuxedoes are cool ;))

anyone have a picture of it?

If it's cold during the filming of a particular episode, I don't know why they can't just SAY so, and have the actors wearing warmer clothes. The Ganger two-parter would have worked just as well if it were set during winter.

I mean, the audience doesn't have to see snow on the ground to know that it can be cold as hell outside. Do they really think we'll find all those extra clothes distracting or something? Or if we can't see Karen's legs we won't want to watch? lol

Dunno what Smith was complaining about the cold last year though, seeing how short those skirts that Karen Gillan was stuck with..!

SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHH!!!! She's a woman, she's supposed to suffer to look sexy for us. Don't ruin this man!

Yes, but they were always smoking jackets. 4 had several coats of many sizes, lengths and colors; he also wore boots, pants, vests and suspenders as he saw fit, in a variety of types and styles. People tend to focus on the scarf, but you can easily argue that Tom Baker's wardrobe was the most varied of any Doctor.

Don't forget McCoy's coat:

Yep, but it was a one-shot appearance, as a gimmick to cover up the intended introduction of his newer, darker coat that he wore in the final season. Other one-shot outfits include Tom Baker's infamous Sherlock Holmes outfit, a couple instances when Hartnell would "go native" for the duration of an historical adventure, and Matt Smith's own tuxedo (though it's since become a two-shot deal). Most Doctors have a couple of these during their tenure...

I love it, but I a sucker for long coats. I hope he goes back and forth between it and the tweed coat on a regular basis.

Question: Do we know whether he is wearing the tweed under this coat, thus making the green coat an OVERcoat, or is the green coat in place of the tweed?

Question 2: Is there a proper name for this style/type of coat?

I like it, but it reminds me more of Doctor #3 than Doctor #11. Eleven is the Absent-Minded History Professor, but I'm not sure there's a style of overcoat for that eccentric-retro-academic look.

Having watched the episode again I stick with my initial vote, it'll grow on me. I hope he wears the tweed jacket more.

It could vary depending on how cold it is. But in "Let's Kill Hitler," it looked as though it had replaced the tweed.

It's an antiquated term, but this kind of knee-length coat has been referrred to as a "frock coat".

I honestly didn't even notice when I watched the episode the first time round. I like it though.

One other change that I would make, though, would be to also add a waistcoat.
