Who's Going To Creation's Las Vegas Convention?

Travel safely, everybody! :)
Well my trip is starting out peachy keen... shorted myself on sleep for the past few days so I could go to bed early enough Tuesday to account for needing to get up by 02:00 for a morning flight (due to logistics). Spent 6 of my scheduled 8 hours in the emergency room with the wife, wondering if we were going at all. Didn't get out of there until they morphined her. We get home, she passes out right away from the morphine and I find I am too tired to sleep. This is going to be a (continuing) long day! If you see someone falling asleep on his feet, while his wife is writhing in agony, say hi!

(Of course I made the best of it and have been reading threads on this BBS!) (and I still have 7 minutes before I have to wake up! *grin*)

I was worried going by myself and not knowing anyone. Still have not met any forum members but I have talked to some very nice people. Maybe I will see some of you tonight. Look for bald, glasses, and a bit over weight. ... Waite, that's half of the people here. Okay. Today I'm in a blue patterned shirt and light kaki cargo pants. ... What? Not much help? Knocks it down to 40 percent of the attendies. Okay, and Enterprise pin on my shirt pocket above a Klingon ship pin. That should help.

Edit - Got stuck three times today. The pins are gone.

I'm wearing a faded black t-shirt that says "Join Starfleet-See the Universe" and blue shorts.
I'm watching a fascinating lecture on the Phoenix lander on Mars and then I'm having lunch with the TOS crew!! If you see me come say ello.

I'm SO excited to be going to my first real convention! My flight lands in Vegas early Saturday morning. I'm coming by myself too, but I'll keep busy, I'm sure. I've been a fan since 1989 *fifth grade*. I'm really ready!

I also have a Cher concert ticket....had to see one big-time Vegas show, too.

See ya'll there!

The husband and I arrived in Vegas late last night. To enjoy the anticipation we brought a sampling of Trek for the portable DVD player for the 5 hour flight from Philadelphia. Unfortunately, the battery can only get us through 2 entire episodes. We'll watch more episodes if we have an unlucky streak at the blackjack tables. So far we have watched "The Naked Time" (TOS), "Rascals" (TNG), and "In The Cards" (DS9). We are so excited for our one day at the convention (Saturday)!

I will be wearing a DS9 shirt!

Hope everyone gets here safely!

Until Saturday...

LL

To all those incredibly unfortunate non-Gold ticket holders who shelled out $200 to attend tonight's "gala":

My sympathies.

I know I expected more. My hi-lite was standing next to the lady who caught the sweaty towel the Connor threw into the audience. To bad I did not get a picture. Her expression was priceless. If I had caught it (and I never raised my hand to try) I would have been hollering "Jinx. Jinx. Are you here? Get this sweaty thing. It stinks!" I assume that then I would have finally met you.

With all the months they had to prepare I was disappointed that Connor and Dominic did not memorize the lines of their skit.

By the way, was anyone else caught in the Borg Experience mess tonight? It broke down just as my group entered. We had to exit and wait quite a while for it to reset. By the time we got out the party was over.

Oh, and I wonder what Patrick Stewart did to Marina Sirtis? I was shocked that she made that comment about him and "23 year old" women on stage. Not sure if it was really a slip since it got repeated later in the talk.

Hello! I'm posting over in the ENT forum's Vegas thread. I have a link there to my p'bucket with some pics (not just ENT people) -- there'll be more but I don't have time right now.

Here's the link: http://s22.photobucket.com/albums/b341/Jinx01/FOR CREATION/MY CREATION PICS/

Hi, SFRabid!
Re: skits --
Connor said during our 3-4 minutes with him at lunch Friday that one or the other was busy and didn't get together to prepare anything until a couple of days before coming here.

Well, my first day today was fun. But REALLY lonely. I did have a great chat with Joanne Linville (Romulan Commander, TOS).

If anyone would like to come up to me and say hi, I'd sure love it.

I'm about 6'5", balding, glasses, goatee.
Tomorrow I'll be wearing a black shirt with a purple undershirt.

I love Star Trek, but I'd love someone to talk to for a couple of minutes a little more. Haha!

Hope you all are having a great time...I get my picture with Kate Mulgrew tomorrow! She's my favorite...

Oh, and of course, 'Howdy from Texas'!!

Hey Chris. I'll look for you tomorrow. I went by myself and having never met anyone from the forum before this, and only having been here for way less than a year. It was a few days before I finally ran into anyone from the forum but they are great and very friendly. I have found the best place to meet people and start conversations is in line for autographs or at tables during special events. I've had some good conversations while in autograph lines, meet a nice and helpful person in line for the party at the Experience, and speak daily to a person that was sitting at my bingo table. Otherwise, it is hard to meet people between events or while eating. I'm much more outgoing online than I am in person. This has been a good exercise for me to be more sociable.

Most likely I will never see these people again because I consider this a once in a life time trip, but it is nice to have a face to associate with forum members. They have all been so nice. :bolian:

Oh, and if someone at the event does not want to talk to you, try one of the other 10,000 people standing around.

Guess I should have done this at the outset: I'll be attending Scott Bakula's forum at 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the Barron Room (aka Roddenberry Theater during the convention). I'll be in Gold ticket-holders' section, Row G, seat 27 (three seats left of the aisle.)

I'm getting ready to leave for my 7 hour drive down to Vegas. I'll be at the Experience and Convention all day. I'll be wearing a brown shirt (has a skull with wings) jeans and I'm 5'11, short hair. I'll be with my wife (baby blue shirt, black short hair). So someone say hi if you see us :)

If any of you go see Bob Picardo and Ethan Phillips in their stage show "House Call" this afternoon, I'd love to know how it went. (I'm the third writer, although through the years their ad-libs have become the true stars of the piece).

Wish I could be there to hear Bob mispronounce my actual last name like he does each time. :)

Ethan Phillips couldn't be here due to some family emergency thing so Bob Picardo is flying solo. Unfortunately I will have to miss this one because it's happening the same time as the Klingon Blood Lunch.

I really wish I could go, but I'm returning from D.C. the day it starts. It sounds like a blast. To all that will be going, have a great time! :)

I really wish I could go as well, but it looks like it's not in the cards this year.:(:(:(

Leonard and Zach were tight-lipped as an Aldeberan shellmouth about Trek XI. Leonard did say he believes ST:IX aka: "Star Trek" will resurrect the franchise. No time to post any commentary....

Here are a few pics:
