Who's going to be captain for Season 3?

Georgiou whose both Emperor and technically a Starfleet captain if a kinda fake one who even might be an android al a The Escape Artist (given she stood up to Controleland pretty well)?.

Saru, who holds the highest current rank?

Burnham who has held the highest rank in the past?

Tilly who was pretty effective pretending to be Captain Killy?

I guessed it would be Georgiou in another thread, so I am sticking with that.

They have hit home runs with actors they picked for Captains: Michelle Yeoh (pilot episodes), Jason Isaacs (season 1) and Anson Mount (season 2). They unfortunately killed the first 2 but it is possible to bring back their alternate universe versions. So MU Georgiou could be Captain for season 3, and Prime Lorca for Season 4. Saru should become Captain at some point and Burnham should be Captain in the last season.

Perhaps Dr Burnham will be there to greet them on the other side, and with her years of knowledge from jumping around the galaxy, gets to take control (lol) of Discovery

Either that or Saru, who more than deserves it, especially after the season finale. I feel he is the one character who has shown the most growth over the course of the show

Yes, I voted for Tilly, but I wasn't really being serious.

I suspect it won't be Burnham. I think it would have to be Saru. Even though Georgiou is a captain, I don't think the crew would take her seriously as commanding officer. Though, I do imagine she'll make it difficult to do anything she doesn't want them to...

Mrs. Burnham would be the most interesting choice because of her expertise of the time period, but also because of the conflict of interest with Michael. She also seems like a bit of a wild card, and that would keep everyone on their toes.

How could it be anyone other than Saru?

Obviously it won't be Georgiou, since she's Terran. And Saru outranks Burnham (in service time, if not in rank). So it really has to be Saru.

Depending on what's through the wormhole, they might not even need a captain. If the Federation still exists, they could assign anyone to command Discovery (assuming they'd want to hang on to a 1000-year-old ship at all), and if it doesn't, nobody's in command because the authority to grant that command no longer exists.

If the crew decide to maintain a command strucure, I think they'll go for Saru, which could potentially backfire in some interesting ways since he may or may not be getting increasingly nuts after losing his fear.

Saru was in command when they left the 23rd Century. He'll still be in command when they end up on the other side of wherever and whenever they're going. So he's the Captain by default.

I don't think they'd accept Georgiou as Captain. She'll be an advisor.

I think the ranks don't matter anymore, but they'll still follow that structure anyway. Eventually, I think Burnham will do something that proves she should be Captain, and Saru will yield over authority. When that would happen, who knows?

So, yeah, Saru.

Probably Saru. Though it's kind of funny, given this show was all about at the beginning not focusing on the captain and senior staff. Yet in the third season, the captain and XO will once again be the first two actors listed in the credits. Granted it's still a bit inverted, in that the XO is the series lead and the captain is the second one listed. But it's still the two highest ranked characters being the first two listed in the credits.

I guess the Ship will be send off in Season 3 and Saru ist the last acting Captain. The Ship just outdated and the Federation should be present in the Beta-Quadrat , even in the entire Galaxy thanks to Quantum-Slipstream-Technology Voyager brought Home. It should be full developed after so many Years . I bet this will end with DSC-Crew on Discovery of the 32nd century and a Captain from that Time. The Series-Name stays, the Ship changes . What we now is that the Federation exists in the 31st century and with Quantum-Slip-Stream from Voyager the Beta-quadrat even the entire Galaxy and more ist reachable. It would make no sense flying with a Ship from the 23 century if the Federation is still there.
