Who Would You Swap?

Of the VOY crew which lucky person would you swap with someone from another Trek series? Only main crew members.



I would swap Harry Kim for Data(TNG)

Not an even trade but oh well.

Ummm how about bringing over Riker to replace Chakotay. Not that I'm a Chakotay hater, but Riker could have a done a lot more to keep Janeway in line - a better voice of reason.

As much as I like the Doctor...McCoy would have been fun to have around on VOY.

Neelix I think could be swapped for someone more useful...not that Neelix was a waist or anything.

Seriously, think about it though- everything they tried and got wrong with Chakotay, they did right with Kira. Literally everything. Her relationship with Sisko and Starfleet in general, her spirituality, her background as a "terrorist," her dedication to her cause... it all fits. Kira is what Chakotay might have been... should have been. Plus, it'd just be awesome to see how Kira would react to some of Janeways crazier command decisions.

Now Kira as Janeway's first officer is a great one. Very interesting. A lot of potential for some great scenes there.

If you think B'Elanna went nuts when The Doctor enlisted the help of that holograhic representation of that Cardassian doctor to help get that big bug off of her, can you imagine if Kira had been around? Man she would have been bouncing up and down and completely losing it. That ep would probably have gone in a different direction.

I guess I would like to consider not just character but position on the ship. The closest trade I would make is take out Paris and get Lt. Geordi La Forge.

Ok, how about trading in Kes for Troi.

kes seems a hell of a lot more useful than troi, though. kes has medical knowledge, an eidetic memory, is a better telepath and doesn't have stripper hair.

troi's contributions are pretty much limited to giving betazoid insight into something very obvious and being perceived as "the hot chick".

plus how many times did it take her to pass the commander test? it's like taking 4 or 5 times to pass med boards - sure they're certified, but do you really want that person in charge of your fate?
