I am probably more like Neelix than any of the other characters.

Neelix and I will go on a food and culture tour of the DQ, he will just have to promise to stop talking when I tell him too.

The Neelix who wanted rough monkey sex with Ch'Rega = good bloke, good company, let's have a drink and talk bollocks all night

The Neelix who creepily mollycoddled his child sex companion and became truly sinister whenever jealous = avoid eye contact/report to police

Neelix is great; I hope he will live happily ever after on that asteroid. He will be a big help to the colony.

^ I doubt there was enough room on the ship for all of those colonists.

And asteroid though it may have been, it was still their home. They wouldn't find any more of a home in a quadrant far away, would they? It wouldn't be Talax any more than the colony was.

I voted Paris, Neelix, the Doctor and Seven...but I didn't see the "purely platonic" part until after I voted. I don't see anything platonic happening between me and Seven, so I take that one back. ;)

I keep thinking, Voyager could have taken them all back to the Alpha Quadrant. Why not?

How many were there? Wasn't it a huge colony?

...

I see Chakotay and B'Elanna are losing to Kim. How?

A lot of these people, and by these people I mean Star Trek, are just too serious and stilted even in their off time. They seem to often be posing at having fun on the holodeck.

This is why I prefer the Ferengi.

Memory-Alpha says, apart from the 150 crew quarters, Intrepid Class Starships have 252 rooms (and Voyager didn't have a full crew). M-A also says the Talaxian colony had almost 500 colonists. It would have been a tight fit but if they doubled up, they could have been transported to the Alpha Quadrant. It wasn't really a home to fight for anyway. They became a nomadic species once their home world was destroyed. What's the difference between living on a claimed asteroid in hostile territory and living within Federation space (besides better living in the Alpha Quadrant)?

Talax was never destroyed by the Haakonian order, only subjugated.
The Metreon Cascade was used against Talax's moon, not the homeworld itself and from what I understand it was a radiation type weapon rather than something that smashed the moon, like a neutron bomb on steroids.

As for Talaxia, they did surrender to the Haakonians after the Metreon cascade on Rinax and became sort of a puppet state to Haakonia, like Poland and some other Central and East European countries were to the Soviet Union.

Some Talaxians, including Neelix didn't like that and left for other worlds or parts of space.
